+493 When you were little you use to always say "trick-o-treat" at every house, now kids just hold out their bags expecting candy. amirite?

Right? Last Halloween I handed out candy at a friend of my mom's house, and less than half of the kids even said anything. And most of the "kids" were like, sixteen or older. >.> It's like, I'm fifteen, and I miss going trick-or-treating, but now it's kind of more fun to just put on a mask, hand out candy, scare a few little kids, and eat some candy out of the bowl. /mini-rant

I'm 16 and I went trick-or-treating :O but I had a legit costume that I spent a lot of time on, not just a white tee and a plastic bag.

Um, it's trick OR treat thank you very much

I always forced them to say it before giving them any candy, and if the 'older' kids were being pricks about it I closed the door on their faces. Then it's just funny listening to them walking away saying profanity every other word.

Way to have some balls! but if I did that my house would get vandalized

I would just shut the door. (But we don't celebrate Halloween in the Netherlands unfortunately)

In Des Moines, where I'm from, all the kids tell jokes to get candy. You don't say " trick or treat." But it is only like that around Des Moines, not all of Iowa
