+393 Why does Breast Cancer Awareness get its own month, its own color, and tons of things like t-shirts and bumper stickers, when other much less treatable cancers just never get acknowledged, amirite?

pancreatic cancer awareness month!

It's more common. One cure could trickle down to the rest though.

Cause... We gotta save the boobs. D:

Because us guys had breast cancer long ago, but then BAM! it was never treated so we lost our boobies, So now we can't lose precious women boobies! Common sense. :)

It's because it's so treatable that it gets a month. It's a lot easier to spot early on because women can just do a self-examine, but most women still don't check up on themselves regularly enough. Hence, an AWARENESS month to make them aware of how easy it is to spot and treat.

Because boobs are the best things ever.

Breast cancer is mainly acknowledged because (or so it seems to me, I'm not knowledgeable about different types of caner) breast cancer affects more people worldwide. More breast cancer victims/patients means more people who see the effects of this devastating cancer. Because they're more likely to be directly affected, they'll fight harder for this more well known cause.

I know maybe brain cancer.

I don't understand how it got it's own month, but the PREVENTABLE #1 killer of women, heart disease, gets no air time. Diet and exercise can stop heart disease from happening, but there is no way to prevent breast cancer...just treatment to get after diagnosed. Hmmm, pharmaceutical companies at play?

Well... it's a very treatable common cancer, the more awarness there is the better. Just like "no shave November" was created to bring awareness for men with prostate cancer and then it expanded to bring awarness for other men's health issues.
