:? Pizza's called pie?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do you live down south?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you mean southern US, no. If you mean South Africa, yes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh well that works too, people. In American often northern refer to pizza as a pizza pie because it's round I guess I never really knew why but they do it anyway

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's ridiculous. I agree with StaceysDad a few comments down.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I didn't make it up! That's just what people say

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Never said you made is up. I meant that calling pizza ''pizza pie'' is ridiculous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I guess maybe since it's on a crust...that's all I can think of.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pizza is pizza. Pie is pie. I don't understand....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Unless! Pizza is pie and pie is pizza. I'll call it, Piezza or Pizze

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pizza means pie in Italian. Or whatever country it came from, I'm sure it was Italy. That means when people say pizza pie, they're saying 'pie pie'.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They just call it pie in Italy I'm pretty sure, they invented it, they can call in whatever

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No one here calls it that . . .

by Anonymous 13 years ago

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's AMORE~!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

APPARENTLY : It's because in Italy, Pizza means pie. So that's why when you say Pizza Pie it's repetitive so no one really says, "Pizza Pie" anymore, just pizza. That's just what I heard but I'm not sure :s

No, in Italian, pizza doesn't mean pie. It means pizza. It seems to me that it's called 'pie' mostly around New York. In the rest of the world, pie means pie. In Italy, pizza is a form of bread and the bread is the most important part. Not the topping. In Italian, pies are usually called 'torta', same as cake. Look up 'torta pasqualina', 'torta di patate', 'torta di mele', 'torta di limone' for examples of how many things 'torta' can mean.
