I specified, the ones who don't want to be homeless. I'm guessing they are currently not thrilled with no rooms, peeing outside, and being in environments that are probably just as sketchy/dangerous. Just sayin.
if you commit a crime, then that basically throws away any possible job opportunity that may arise in the future. if you cant get a job ever, then you're going to continue to stay homeless.
For many crimes, this is not true. Unless you murdered or kidnapped someone, many jobs are still available. My brother has been homeless and in prison several times, but now has had a great job for the past 3 or 4 years. He is now drug and smoke-free. He lives as a tenant in a million dollar house with his girlfriend.
Point being: your claim, where ever it came from, is totally incorrect.
I'm not saying that you're lying or anything, but whenever someone makes a generalization on the internet there is ALWAYS someone who has some unbeleivable story that contradicts it.
Good for your brother, but for most that is not the case.
People did that during the great depression
Good for them. I'm pretty sure prisons are overcrowded now (that just seems to be a "fact", about every prison every where at every point in time, that I've heard my entire life), so it might not be quite as comfortable as it could be, ideally. The idea still works though.
Because in prison they won't get a chance to get back on their feet. And they probably like having freedom as well.
That's exactly what some people do.
It's sick. MURDERERS have better living conditions than people who maybe made a bad investment.
Prisoners have to be treated well because they're technically property of the government.
Only if they don't have a golden radio voice.
hahah so true!
Prison would be more stressful and dangerous. And cost us more to house them. That, and I used to work at a homeless shelter/crises center - many aren't really interested in "help" beyond the basics and are pretty content with their situation. Not everyone wants to be "saved."
do YOU want your tax payer dollars to go to someone who isn't trying to stand on their feet? No.
I really don't. Prisoners should have to deal with worse conditions, but whatever. We can't really change that.
I do not wish to pay for them, but if I was homeless I would consider it.
Haha yeah... I've never heard someone say "don't drop the soap!" when someone goes to a homeless shelter lol
Yes. But there are many homeless druggies and there are homeless people who are raped and murdered. (I'm actually taking that second part from an episode of Criminal Minds I saw once, so it may or may not be true)
Jesus nigga nigga this ain't nigga, and besides, I nigga this one nigga Nigga, he hates niggas because any nigga to nigga there is a nigga and he has niggas nigga
The POTD seems very appropriate for this.
yes, because i'm sure they love getting their freedom taken away.
There's this thing called guilt.. I don't think I'd ever stoop so low as to commit a crime bad enough to be sent to prison. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.
I read a book about this...
philip defranco said something like this on his showw
Some do during winter months.
My adopted sister (who is now 18 and doing great btw) had her mum murdered by her dad in front of her when she was 7. He tried to kill her too, but she got away and ended up homeless. She was homeless until she was 15 when she was taken in and now gets proper psychological help. From this, she has opened up and admitted to terrible things; as a kid she did WHATEVER she had to for food and/or shelter, which meant sometimes committing crimes in front of police so she could have a night in prison. She said she knew other homeless kids who did the same thing. She also told us about how she knew some of the policemen around the area she lived in and knew which ones would be nice and let the kids just stay in a prison cell together overnight when it was freezing cold outside. So basically what I'm saying is yes, at least here in China, that's exactly what homeless people (well kids/teens at least) do.
Sure why not then guess who pays for it, tax payers, which is you and your family. I dont know maybe homeless people should go to homeless shelters which help them get back on their feet. Just saying...
I think there are some people that do that. But I'd rather live outside...in a forest or something.
This is such a re-post...i posted this like, a couple months ago...
@1041973 (Anonymous): No kidding. A couple (2) months ago was December and I posted this in November... Sorry I psychically stole this thought from your mind before you were able to put it on Amirite.
yer i doubt theyd wanna sign up for the daily fend of the rapists exercise plan
Committing crimes isn't the right thing to do. Only jacked up people do junk like that.
Because I'm guessing they're not into 8x8 rooms, scheduled bathroom breaks, not to mention suprise buttsex/facial rugburn? Just sayin.
I don't think I've ever heard a homeless dude say "damn man, every time I go to sleep on my favorite bench, some other bum tries to fuck me in the ass!"- not to mention, you can't smoke in prison now, and I'm pretty sure all bums smoke.
(): I'm just going to go out on a limb and say that I don't think that every single person who goes to prison gets raped, and I also doubt that every single homeless person smokes. I don't know about you, but that seems to be a trade I would be willing to make: shelter/food for not being able to smoke.
(): Cigarettes are way too expensive for most homeless people, I would think...if it was a choice between having to quit smoking and starving I would probably just quit.
