+220 Just as you have the right to be gay, I have the right to not like it, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And I have the right to not like you. :>

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You have a right to not like it, but no right to persecute them and say they can't get married.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

says the Atheist.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Terms as strong as persecute are often overused. Usually, persecution involves serious physical and psychological harm, which most people don't dish out just because someone's a homo.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"Just as you have the right to be black, I have the right to not like it." Same idea, different situation. Still makes you a racist.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Or "Just as you have the right to be a woman, I have the right to not like it." Sexism is no more fair. To OP: Yes, you have the right to not like it, but just as they don't criticize or persecute you for being straight, you shouldn't criticize or persecute them for being gay.

I don't think they're saying that they are about to go out and murder a bunch of homosexual people. They just don't support it as much as other people. I have gay friends, but that doesn't mean that I'm okay with them pointing out what guys they think are hot...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not really, some people believe being gay is a choice. So it'd be more like if someone likes to sleep around a lot, some people don't like them & call them a whore or slut for their personal decisions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not a choice though. People can believe it is all they want but that doesn't make it true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You also have the right to be criticized for your opinion, which is probably why you started this post in the first place -- people criticized you for hating on gays. So suck it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But you don't have the right to deny others of their rights.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What don't you like about gays?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think somebody can dislike that people engage in sexual acts with others of the same sex - in the same way that many christians would dislike that people have pre-marital sex, commit adultery and other sexual "sins"; but nobody should have the right to tell others who they should love or how they should love as long as they are consenting adults. *Just my Opinion*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

as long as you are tolerant then we shouldnt have a problem.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah like mike says, you can have your opinion just be tolerant of others. That's the key factor.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A lot of people pretend that not liking the idea of homosexuality is the same as persecution. People, there is a HUGE difference between those simple topics. Then, they go on to compare sexual preference to skin color. To that, I say HOW IN THE WORLD ARE THEY RELATED?! You are born with your skin color, you're not born saying "I'm a guy, but men turn me on more than women.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you are born like that, gay people don't just wake up one day and say "hey! I'm gonna like the same sex now, and be ridiculed and judged all the time!"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How do you know it's not a psychological issue that they acquire somehow through life experience? Like a pathological liar or something

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If it's a psychological issue, then it's still not their choice.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't see why they would lie and pretend to be that way, when they get harassed on a daily basis.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the American Psychological Association ruled out mental illness as a reason for homosexuality years ago so, no. Homosexuality is not like being a pathological liar. also, at OP, you do have the right not to like it, but just like free speech, don't use that right as a means to be a dick.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

this post was obviously just posted to get attention, I'm gay, and sure, you have the right not to like our community but simply voicing that for the sake of voicing it on a website like ths obviously shows that you are harsh towards the gay community and most likely let people know you hate gays all the time to draw attention to the fact. And by the way you split an infinitive it should be "I have the right not to like it" not "I have the right to not like it" if you're going to post something like this, use propper english. =)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What do you mean "I have the right"? It's not a choice. Gay rights (marrying, sodomy, etc.) are choices, but homosexuality is certainly not one of those choices. So, no, I don't have the right to be gay. I have the right to express it. And you have the right to die because I really don't care about this whole "I'm not gonna be a hypocrite" thing anymore. If you have any sort of discrimination against something, just go die. There's really no need for you on this Earth. You're entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine. And mine is go die. Thank you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So, you have the right to tell me to die, but if i said it to a gay person (which i never do) then that is suddenly the end of the world? Wtf. Seriously. and you seem to have discrimination against people who don't like gays. And btw, "not liking" them does not mean bullying or trying to harm them, it simply means that you don't like it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You are rite.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You have the right to not like what they are or what they stand for, etc. But you do not and never will have the right to make their lives a living hell. You do not have the right to keep them from getting married or adopting children or whatever other crazy things people think gays shouldn't be allowed to do. So yes. I will agree that you do have the right to not like gays. However, it should only go that far and not pass your lips or fingertips.
