+244 If amirite was made during Nazi Germany, the site would be called amireich, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why would it be half-English? And why would it say am i rich?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...Sir, you fail. The Third Reich is what the Nazis referred to themselves as.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know, but it doesn't mean "right" so wtf? The Third Reich = The Third Empire/Nation. Reich also means "rich" occasionally. Amireich = amiempire or amirich, so you're the one who fails here.

Look up joke buddy....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't like jokes that only partially make sense. And wtf where have you been? This conversation ended 10 years ago.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This site didn't exist 10 years ago. :p Anyways, I was going to make a post JUST like this one. Besides it's a play on words, that's why it's funny. Not because it makes sense

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, and the only thing that made it a play on words is those 1-2 first letters in "right" and "reich". Otherwise, they are in no way similar whatsoever, since this site hasn't got its nation in its title, nor is "reich" an adjective describing one as right. Puns like this, There was once a cross-eyed teacher who couldn't control his pupils, however are ones that I have nothing against, since they work both ways.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, but amireich would be applicable to the Germany during World War II, because instead of posting stuff and asking if they're right, they'd be posting stuff like, "I killed 20 people today, amireich?" Like did I preserve the union?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol, how do you know that that's what the OP meant? THEY probably didn't think this that far, so they only wrote it because the first syllable is the same in both words. And still, amireich is the combination of German and English, and I really doubt people in Nazi Germany were bilingual English-speakers. And even if they were, haha, they wouldn't say "am i empire" now would they? Reich isn't even an adjective! And the adjective of the word Reich is "rich"! "Ohey I shot 50 Jews today, amiempire/amirich?" Lolwtf. You're not winning this argument.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Okay, I'll use that argument then. "Hey I just bought 50 ships, amireich?" I mean it's like the joke about Hitler saying juice and not Jews, sure the German word for Jews and Juice doesn't sound anything like each other, but for the sake of the joke it does do the job. Besides 229 people see the humour in this post, jokes don't make every single person laugh and they're not expected. So if you don't like it, then it's on you. The reason I bring up this point is to say that since 229 people DID think this was funny, you already lost your argument. So even if I don't WIN at persuading YOU, you still don't win.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But see, the argument isn't if the general public likes it or not, it's if this post makes sense or not. And it doesn't. I love the Hitler juice joke, but this one just isn't good enough. If Reich sounded exactly like right, then I'd agree and even favourite this, but like it is now, no.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I do agree to some extent it is pushing it, but don't all jokes? I mean there were people making the same criticization of the Hitler juice joke and what it shows you is that no matter how good a joke is, someone isn't going to like it. For example in this case, you. However if you like a joke, no matter how unnatural it may be, you will find a way to make it work. You'll understand it the way YOU want to, so it makes sense to you. Get what I'm saying?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, but that's not going to convince me to like this at all, is it? I mean you came to an old argument in which I stated this joke is stupid, and tried to reason with me and make me agree, and now you're just giving up? That was a pointless argument.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Where did I state that I was trying to make you change you are mind? See at this point in my life I've come to the realization that, you can't really change people's mind. What I was trying to do was to show you that it was in fact a joke and you yourself admit to that in your previous comment, therefore I guess I did win.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol, as if I didn't know it was a joke? What, did I think it was a serious statement? And did you just seriously write "you are" instead of "your"? All I was arguing is that this post doesn't make sense at all, and the pun doesn't work with just a wee similarity between words such as this one, and you came and tried to argue the opposite, that it in fact does make sense, at which you failed and you are now trying to change your argument.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Don't try to simplify the situation to favour you to win this argument. It's clear that I won, because I stated facts to support my argument, while you on the other hand was just putting random words together. I'll sum up to you how I won this argument in one simple sentence: not every joke will make everyone laugh. And I'll back my statement up with statistics and facts, 23/25 people found this joke to be funny. 23/25 != 100% (like I clearly stated). However since an overwhelming majority has decreed this joke to be on the funny side, it is in fact funny. Postscript, are you sure it's your? I always get my yours and you ares confused.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lolwut, when was I arguing it wasn't funny for the general public? I demand a specific quote. The one initial goal that I stated was "I don't like jokes that..." which isn't really a goal at all, I was just arguing that I don't like this and listed the reason(s) why. The only way you could win such an argument would be to convince me to change my vote.
