+232 If you want the secret to truly getting over someone, break off all contact with them. Don't talk, don't see each other, don't text, nada. This way, your mind will be able to break apart from the person so you won't have to reminisce about them as much. amirite?

Or u could just kill them, you don't need to get over someone who's dead

yeah it works, but it's more painful for that short time, and you lose any friendship that could be saved.

That just makes me miss them more. Convincing myself that a guy is an asshole and then hanging around him to actually prove it to myself works much better.

Hanging around an asshole just to prove that he's an asshole? You must be in high school. lol

I mean more talking to him and convincing yourself "Okay, this guy is an idiot." I am, and all that means in this conversation is that I'd rather attempt to lie to myself for a couple weeks that completely stop talking to a friend.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So you call him a friend but at the same time he's an asshole/idiot?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Again, for a short period of time. Whenever I stop talking to someone completely, I rarely start talking to them again. I'd rather stand a person for a little while while thinking they're an idiot and then stop telling myself that they're stupid when I'm over them. But then again, I'm a teenage girl and I make no sense whatsoever.

High school is a wonderful place.

Thank you.

I'm sorry but this is bullshit. If you love someone, you never truly get over them. You can move on with your life and be relatively happy, but a part of you will always love them. "Breaking off all contact" won't make you magically get over someone. If anything it'll make you miss them more.

It's crazy how this post came up and it's been about 5 months since we broke up...and we're still texting each other awkwardly, attempting to show that we care, but not that much, but still letting certain things slip out. It's true, there's still apart of you that holds on forever.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Or you just get over them after a while, as it usually happens. Breaking off all contact just makes it too much a big of a deal and you end up clinging to the thought even more.

But then when you see the person again all the feelings come rushing back to you.

One of my friends does the opposite of this and it drives me insane. It's like if your going to do something, at least commit to it, instead of waking me up at 2 in the morning, crying how you never want to see him again, your "done for good this time" Her: "I BROKE UP WITH ALEX TODAY!!! *crying*" *three days later* Me: "who are you texting?" Her: "Oh, Alex. He said I looked pretty day, he's so sweet, I love him :3 " I hate to sound like an insensitive friend, but she does this like once a month at least for the two years they've been dating. I get very angry when I'm awaken for stupid reasons.

Find someone new. Someone more humorous and attractive.
