Salem witch trials? More like mental illness in early america, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Um, more like a combination of greed and superstition.

^ also, ignorance and fear

AHHHHH! You're a witch! Who's up for a witch hunt?
by Anonymous13 years ago
More like extreme panic and skepticality...and superstition. "The Crucible" is a really good metaphor to read on the salem witch trials and the communism freak out in the US.

I learned in school it was caused by moldy bread
by Anonymous13 years ago
My teacher didn't say definitively whether or not it was mold, but mentioned that some rye bread mold is hallucinogenic. Still, it's a shame that religion had that much influence in society at the time.

they kept the rye grain in large silos when they spoiled the ergot fungus grew and then they made rue bread from that. There is a chemical is ergot that is synthesized the making LSD. So basically everyone was tripping balls on acid claiming that other people were witches, cause they saw them do shit

Or because they were crazy and paranoid XD
