It's because the stuff I want now is so expensive. Back in the days, I was content with a shitload of dolls, trinkets, and toys. Now I want a car, a new iPod, a new digital camera, a new phone, clothes, and spending money.

It could be because kids just get more gifts in general. They're easier to buy stuff for.
