+307 It's annoying when people get mad at you for calling somebody a Mexican, saying that it's "so politically incorrect", when that person is, in fact, a Mexican. No, he's not "Hispanic" or "Latino", his parents emigrated from Mexico. He's a Mexican, and that's not me being ignorant, amirite?

I was talking to someone about this. Where I work, there are two Lynns. Lynn J who is a black woman, and Lynn T who is a white male. A co-worker referred to LJ as "Black Lynn" and someone told him that it was racist, but would it be sexist to say "girl lynn"? Food for thought.

in america, where the majority of the population is white, then lynn t would be normal, because he would be the same as the majority. calling someone black isn't racist, it's a statement of fact. It would be racist if they said, "I hate Lynn J because she is black."

i thought we were talking about races... considering they said "Black Lynn" and not "Girl Lynn"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wouldn't it be easier to call them LJ and LT?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

but it never said black lynn didn't approve of the name

so neither of us know, therefore, you cant make accusations of people not liking things without first having the proper knowledge and information. Life lessons with Jack.

Don't let any Chinese people hear you calling her LJ. it's an abbreviation for the word for penis in one of the dialects. It would be fine if you called the black Lynn and white Lynn or girl Lynn and boy Lynn, but not black Lynn and Lynn or girl Lynn and Lynn, unless Lynn T was there first, and Lynn means Lynn T by default.

Whoa! So many comments from the last time I logged on. Let me try to clarify: Lynn T was there first (white, male, associate) Lynn J was came second (black, female, manager) The guy who called Lynn J, Black Lynn, also refers to Lynn T as White Lynn. Neither Lynns know they are referred to by this manor. Still same opinions?

Then yeah I have no problem with that. It's okay to differentiate by skin colour as long as you treat them the same

Saying that calling someone Mexican or black is racist means that you think that someone is calling someone that term is an insult, like you're putting them down. This would mean that the accuser is, in fact, the racist person because they deep down think that calling someone whatever term is insulting.

I know! I guess it's because lots of people use it with racist connotation, but yeah.

Is it just me or are y'all getting tired of seeing the word 'Lynn'?
