You probably just haven't sat down and watched the whole thing in a while. I only saw it when it came to DVD so I was confused until I rewatched it

I could probably understand them if I watched all three in one sitting but I haven't seen them in forever so yeah they make no sense.

I don't understand why people keep saying they don't know what's going on. POTC 1-3 spoilers ahead Curse Of The Black Pearl: The simplest of films. Barbossa is cursed. Wants to remove curse, but needs Will's blood to do it. Meanwhile, Jack plots to get his ship back Dead Man's Chest: Cutler Beckett and his company are taking control of the caribbean. He arrests will and sends him on a mission to collect Jack's compass. Davy Jones is calling in Jack's debt, so Jack is now searching for the chest containing Jones's heart, as whoever has the heart can control Jones (and make him erase any debts they may owe him). He sends Will in to do this, but Will gets stuck on Jones's ship where he finds his father is enslaved on board. Will escapes and wants Jones's heart to make him free his father. Norrington has been discharged from the navy after attempting to sail through a storm looking for Jack, which cost him most of his crew. He wants Jones's heart to get on Beckett's good side (contd)

as Beckett wants the heart so he can have total control over Davy Jones, and whomever controls Jones basically controls the sea. Beckett wants to control the seas so he can more easily wipe out all pirates. Jack fails in collecting the heart before Jones catches up with him. Jones sends Jack to his own personal hell, basically. Tia Dalma revives Barbossa because he's the only one who could navigate the seas well enough to retrieve Jack At World's End: My memory of this movie's exact events are a bit fuzzy, but basically Beckett is wiping out the pirates, the pirates call for the meeting of the pirate lords to fix this. Our gang goes to the land of the dead to retrieve Jack (one of the pirate lords) who now wants Jones's heart, as whoever stabs the heart becomes immortal. Will wants to free his father, Barbossa wants to free the sea goddess Calypso to combat the EITC as well as end Jones's dominance over the seas. All actions from these characters are motivated by this. (contd)

Sorry, as I said, I forget a lot of the specifics of the 3d film (it's the one I've seen the least) but that's basically what happens.
