+205 Why do people question what the easter bunny and his eggs have to do with the resurrection of Jesus? Nobody ever talks about what an old man handing out presents has to do with Jesus being born. amirite?

i know the egg is suppose to symbolize birth, i just dont know about the bunny. the presents are to represent joy, and happiness, as in the joy and happiness are expressed when jesus was born

wise men were old people, giving gifts to jesus..?

St. Nicholas. He went around putting gifts in peoples' shoes at night. He's got his own day though, not sure why it transferred over to Christmas.

Socks, not shoes. ;) He had to sell his daughters or something, and he felt guilty so he gave money to poor people.

People question Santa and his relation to Christ all the time...

by Anonymous 14 years ago

According to the Bible, Jesus wasn't even born on "Christmas Day" he was born in the spring

And also, the image of Santa Clause isn't even a CHRISTIAN thing. It comes from a large collection of gods and saints of other religions, and even some mythologies. The Christians actually started celebrating Chirst's birth in December as that time frame was sacred to many pagans because of the winter solstice, and they wanted to make converting to Christianity easier and more acceptable to pagans.

Santa Clause was created by Sears in their early catalogs to promote Christmas.

the wise men gave gifts to Jesus, you idiot. that made it a gift giving holiday.

Hey, way to take a joking post seriously. Everyone loves when people do that. Everyone also loves when you call them idiots, based on the fact that they were trying to make someone laugh and weren't being serious at all. Shit's so awesome.

Hey, sorry about that. It was late, I was cranky. No excuse though. It didn't occur to me that it could have been a joke. It seemed too serious to be a joke to me. Sorry about that. :) *skweekers*
