+518 A bad movie can't "ruin" a good book. If a book is truly good, then something as stupid as a poorly made film can't make you not enjoy it. amirite?

Yes but unfortunately, the movie, good or bad, always ruins the book if you watch the movie first. :/

i remember watching the first harry potter movie before reading the books, and the movie didnt ruin it, but it definitley put a picture in my mind that affected what the characters looked like as i read.

A bad movie based on an awesome book ruins the chance for an awesome movie.

Well, if the actors are awful then you may not be able to prevent imagining the characters in the book as those actors... thus ruining the book.

For example: Eragon.

If the movie was able to ruin it, it must not have been that good in the first place.

The book was phenomenal, then i heard about the movie, got excited, got disappointed, and then it seemed obvious that the shit for a film would ruin the reputation of the novel.

But it's reputation was ruined, not the book itself. Unless you can't even read the book or look back on the story without being happy, then it's nto ruined.

Damn good point.

Sigh...Percy Jackson. The book was the shit, the movie was a piece of shit.
