+101 America shouldn't try to be the worlds super power and spread democracy. We have our own flaws, what makes us the best? amirite?

Still, as of now, the US still has the strongest military in the world. If anything goes severely wrong, like a country having an equivalent of Hitler, we need military power, because you can't just ignore getting nuked, but you can ignore negotiations. THe US should retain its role of 'police officer of the world' for now, until another power (probably China, once it finds a way to guide it's 'carrier killers' properly) surpasses it.

You know the reason a lot of other countries hate us and want to bomb us is because we've got troops over in their countries like we own the place, right? Rather than police the world, how about we bring our troops home and use them as defense rather than some unjustified offense?

I live halfway round the world. I thought the US troops in those countries are there because they're trying to remove some threat to national security or something. And wouldn't bringing them home and using them solely for defense be like what happened between WWI and II (policy of isolation), making the League of Nations weak, and allowing the rise of Hitler?

That might be their objective, but they're actually creating a threat to national security. One could argue the US is doing immoral acts comparable to that of Hitler. What I mean is think about the number of innocent lives lost in other countries because of America's policing of terrorism. Do you think it's helping America? Do you think people of other countries rejoice when we kill their loved ones?

Freedom makes us the best, and freedom should be spread everywhere.

Do you know what the NDAA act is? It was signed pretty recently and it gave Obama the right to detain you indefinitely without charge. And have you heard of SOPA? They're actually seriously considering making laws to control how you use the internet. I wouldn't call this freedom.

Not to mention extreme displays of police brutality in response to the Occupy Wall Street movement.

I think Bigtrex meant pre-Obama. That's why Obama shouldn't be reelected..

Democracy is important. Democratic nations are more stable than dictator led nations. And, dictators fight dictators and democracy's fight dictators, but democracy's never fight democracys.

OP wasn't suggesting we have a dictator instead. The problem with democracy is that it leaves out the minority. Gay rights is a perfect example. Sure, more people are becoming accepting of gays everyday (which suggests that someday hopefully the majority do accept it), but they're still a minority and because of that, minority loses. A minority could be 49%. That's just about half of a population that can't live how they want because "majority rule". Why not let //everyone// have freedom? Not just the majority because they have the bigger numbers and not just the minority because we feel sorry for them; everyone.

Because oppressing women with the justification of religion is a good thing.
