There certainly can still be mistakes in it, and one piece of art can be considered better than the other xD Of course it can't be solid, but it'd be objective.

My art teacher just sees if we completed the assigntment, she doesn't really care if it's attractive or not as long as we used the element we learned about correctly.

Art is so incredibly...weird. You can walk into a museum and see a giant orange triangle. That's it. Yet somehow, it's art. Somehow some guy got paid to make it and put it up in a nationally visited area. Bet I'd fail if I tried to pass it off in my art class.

Depends on the type of art. If you're trying for photorealism then yeah there are mistakes. But there's also a lot of crap out there that is called art that really isn't. Art is something that ignites truly new thoughts and/or feelings. An art class assignment will probably turn out to be just a drawing, not a work of art. If you've shown that you know the techniques and what colours are better suited to do with your project... Then you'll get a higher grade, they grade it on that sort of stuff.
