I read The Odyssey after I saw that movie and I just never made the connection in my head

A misused bag of winds, a female guardian and guide, Dennis/Poseidon fighting against them, their homes being over run by outsiders (Plankton being Antinous), Spongebob and Odysseus were trapped away from their homeland (Shell City and Calypso's island), they were both heroes, they both blinded a cyclops, etc. The stories have different orders maybe, but SBSP pretty much goes by the book.
