When will people realize that being fat isn't bad and that you're just accepting the indoctrination given to you by the media that being slightly overweight or having fat at all is "bad". I mean, really, you're conforming to bullshit. amirite?

I agree, but to be fair, being obese is unhealthy, and therefore bad.

Not always, actually. Sometimes it's genetics that makes you fat. It's not always Twinkies and Oreos. My friend Komi is a vegetarian and eats light (mainly because her bitch mother doesn't get up to go shopping). She's still overweight. I eat far more than she does, and I maintain normal weight.

As far as I'm aware, I'm far unhealthier than she is. Weight and fat does not define your health all of the time.

Oh, I'm not saying that all obese people got that way from eating junk food. I'm just saying that they are at much higher risk for serious health problems.

@AdonisBatheus Not all of the time.

...okay, well most of the time, they are. Sleep apnea is pretty common in bigger people and it can be deadly (someone in my community just died from it and he was only 20) and it has nothing to do with how many vegetables you eat. I get that you're probably not going to accept my points as valid, and that's fine.

No, what you say is true, but it's not the case for ALL obese people. Just the majority.

@AdonisBatheus No, what you say is true, but it's not the case for ALL obese people. Just the majority.

Even if she eats healthily, being overweight still makes your heart work harder than it normally would so its still unhealthy. Being overweight, even if it is genetics, still puts you at risk of health issues.

@AdonisBatheus Not always, actually. Sometimes it's genetics that makes you fat. It's not always Twinkies and Oreos. My friend...

I highly doubt the story about your friend. There is a difference between being 5-20 pounds overweight and being obese. You don't get obese by eating super healthy. It is pure science, if you are overweight you are taking in more calories then you are putting out as energy. Maybe she should exercise. But no one in the media says being slightly overweight is absolutely detrimental, most media outlets focus on eliminating obesity. Anyway you put it being 'fat' is bad, it is not healthy and you're taking years off of your life because your heart is working harder then it should be.

One of my favorite movie quotes fits well here:
"It's unfortunate what we find pleasing to the eye and pleasing to the touch are seldom the same." ~Fabienne, Pulp Fiction

@ClaireTheBozo but ... isn't it? like srsly, i'm not even trying to troll, but i dont see how it's... good....

It depends on the persons condition. Sometimes people are just 'over weight' due to genetics. As someone said earlier Sleep Apnea is an issue if you are heavier-no matter how you got that way. Some people did bring it upon themselves and thats typically bad. As I said it depends on each individual.

I'm 10-15lbs over "ideal" weight, according to most things I read... and boy would my hubs be pissed if I lost that weight. Not everyone wants to feel bones when they cuddle someone, amirite? XD

I agree. Although I'm supposedly within the ideal body weight for my height, I still have curves and chubby bits, but my hubby says he wouldn't like me as much if I lost it.

@GreatValue I agree. Although I'm supposedly within the ideal body weight for my height, I still have curves and chubby bits...

I say it's good to have that little bit of fat. It's energy storage, and it keeps your warm. It's winter time now, anyways, so I say gain more weight.

When I was with my ex I was underweight and he said it was like fucking a skeleton -_- ... and he liked it much more when I put on a bit more weight.

Theres a huge difference between being "fat" and being "slightly overweight"

Conformity isn't always a bad thing.

@JennaGee Conformity isn't always a bad thing.

Does it really even count as conformity when like 55% of your country is overweight?

@duckshirt Does it really even count as conformity when like 55% of your country is overweight?

Most everyone believes that being overweight and obese is a bad thing, so yes.
I was referring to "I mean, really, you're conforming to bullshit". I would rather have people desperately trying to lose weight to the point of anorexia than people stop caring about being fit if obesity was the social norm.

@JennaGee Conformity isn't always a bad thing.

To me it is. I mean, sure, I conform to ideas and characteristics and fashion in some ways, but I'm still original. I believe in different things, I have my own mind, I think for myself. When you conform, you're giving it all up, letting indoctrination or other people control what you say and think. It's just not a good thing.

AdonisBatheuss avatar AdonisBatheus Yeah You Are 0Reply
@AdonisBatheus To me it is. I mean, sure, I conform to ideas and characteristics and fashion in some ways, but I'm still original...

Did you just learn that word today? You use it so much. You've already conformed unless you go out killing people, stealing, raping, and other things. You've already conformed so much, you don't even realize it. You are already in the system. And now the latest craze is non conforming, everyone has to have a mind of their own, that's also conformity. You can't escape it, there is nothing you can do to not conform, because you were raised by people who have already conformed. You can't tell what ideas are yours and what isn't. It's apart of you and although you may think it's you thinking something, it's really the things that you've been thought. Fighting conformity is fighting yourself

Haha that's cute. What you didn't realize is, that it probably broke trying to get good measurement. I recommend getting it fixed.

@TicTacAddict Pfft, like any part of me could ever defect.

I'm sorry hun, but I do that to girls ;]

@TicTacAddict You wish. (;

Sorry, but having the ability to please girls isn't the kind of stuff I wish for. Why waste a wish on something I already have?

If you're only talking about "fat" to the point were it isn't unhealthy yet the same thing applies the other way around, although I'll admit people who are "too fat" are usually frowned upon more than those who are "too thin".

Still though I will be polite and reply to your comment, that may be your experience with women, which would explain why you are gay now, but it's not the same way with me. IF it had been, I wouldn't be deleting numbers and having to block girls who constantly keep calling me....

A little fat is ok, it is healthy. But there is a line where good becomes disgusting and harmful to your health.

@Flymeister A little fat is ok, it is healthy. But there is a line where good becomes disgusting and harmful to your health.

But apparently, having any fat at all is bad, bad, bad. I mean really... We discriminate people when they're 5 pounds overweight. And I don't like it.

I'm not even overweight, I just have overweight friends and I hate how people talk shit about weight because if somebody told that to my friends, I would be so fucking pissed off I'd scream my ass off at them.

And being fat doesn't even take away your personality. I see fat people being treated as monsters, but whenever I talk to them, they seem like a person. I can't say if they're mean or nice, because it differs from person to person. Yes, from person to person, not from monster to monster.

So do you think "fat" children are a good thing? Do you think that it is good for a 7 year old to weigh something like 90 pounds?

How about we stop trying to make being unhealthy and lazy acceptable???

@ tailstorroki....eating light lowers metabolism. eating right helps you loose weight.

Montanas avatar Montana Yeah You Are +1Reply

Obesity is a risk factor for heart disease, which is the number one killer in America. If you have that plus any one of the other risk factors (old age, genetics, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, inactive lifestyle, smoking) you triple your risk of getting heart disease. So yeah, I would say it's a bad thing...not being like 15 pounds overweight, but if you need to lose more than 50 then there's going to be some problems.

Anonymous +1Reply

Being fat is not healthy. Being fit is healthy. I know it's been said before, but not being in shape can lead to so many healthy problems-diabetes, heart disease, etc. etc. I'm sure it's all been said.

I'm not saying being stick thin is healthy, but being in shape is always healthier than not.

@KickAss Are you in shape?

Mhmm, I eat really healthy and work out a couple times a week. I used to want to be a dietician so I'm a huge health nut.

@asdijojioiojioxj Mhmm, I eat really healthy and work out a couple times a week. I used to want to be a dietician so I'm a huge...

Ugh, I wish I could eat healthy... there's nothing but fast food restaurants around me, but I do work out everyday, except Wednesdays which is my break day.

Yeah that sucks =/ apparently weight goes to T&A last and comes off them first- what kind of cruel cosmic joke is that? I always feel bad for round-shaped girls with little boobs; that's just not fair. Chest-to-waist usually ratio matters more than actual weight, if you're talking about how guys look at us.

You are a moron. Sure, they're lying that they like that extra cup size and handful of booty that they go out of their way to grab and fondle every chance they get- sure, we both ended up with award-winning actors. Also, fyi, my husband is hot as hell. Been compared to Gavin Rossdale- if he was 5'9"(I am only 5'5")=P So no- some people just like women who look like women, instead of 10 year old boys in wigs.

So go hook up with your "older model types"(LOL... as if) and leave us to our extremely happy, HONEST relationships. I'm sure you think it's fun being a human dildo, since that's what older women use younger guys for. I heard cougars are great for spreading STIs- oh and I should reference you this truism: http://www.amirite.net/mobile/373334

@Black_No_1 You are a moron. Sure, they're lying that they like that extra cup size and handful of booty that they go out of...

10 years older than me aren't considered cougars, they have to be at least in their 40s to be considered one. I date women in their 20s and some in their early 30s. They're the hardest, because they're looking to settle down... anyways, I don't date them because they are older than me, or because they are easy. I have no problem with dating women my age, it's just for the most part I happen to enjoy women who are more mature and don't act like they're still in high school or college. Just because you can be happy in your relationship, doesn't mean I can't be either. I'm perfectly satisfied with dating the women I date. I mean just the possibilities you have with skinny girls.... But I guess that's just my cup of tea

It used to be the other way around, in ancient Greece it was considered very appealing to be overweight, since it meant you could laze about and eat whatever the fuck you want. The thin ones were workers/slaves/etc who were also tan (another reverse to today, though I see a lot of that mindset changing as well).

@PirateQueen It used to be the other way around, in ancient Greece it was considered very appealing to be overweight, since it...

See now THEY had it reversed, you're saying they liked the lazy women instead of the ones who worked for a living? That's more attractive to me, I would rather be with a working fatty than a lazy skinny... and it has nothing to do with the times... actually I wouldn't choose either, but still

@KickAss See now THEY had it reversed, you're saying they liked the lazy women instead of the ones who worked for a living?...

It was more of the attraction to what being overweight represented, rather than being lean. Roman gladiators were some of the most fit, and they weren't any better than a common slave. The thought process in those days was just completely different.

I second that doubt.
