I used to until i realised my papers were longer than everyone elses

If it's for vocabulary words and things with a set word count, or math, yes. If it's just supposed to be a two page handwritten paper, no.

I write extremely big so wide ruled is personally better for me so that my handwriting doesn't look extremely crammed. For some reason, I do find myself using college ruled most of the time anyway.
