In Sweden we sort of get paid but the money comes from taxes anyway so it's basically our parents who are indirectly giving us money...

I don't see why you need to get paid to get an education. I mean, I admit that some of the stuff is pretty useless; however, there are children all around the world who don't get a chance to learn, and you want to be paid for it?!

Some schools do pay you. I couldn't find the one in the United States, but I know some schools in the New England area are doing it.
