+277 It's lame that people are getting all annoyed about socialised health care and their taxes paying for other people's doctors bills and whatever. People without kids aren't exempt from the taxes that go towards schools, people without cars still pay for road repairs through tax etc, amirite?

I think it would be different if you were a doctor, or part of a doctor's family

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Most doctors in England, where healthcare is far more socialised than in the US, have high incomes. It's possible.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

WEll, consider a doctor who has a private practice, where he gets workers comp patients

by Anonymous 14 years ago

consider the people on too low incomes or with previously existing health conditions to get health insurance?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Good point, but it's not fair that people have to work harder to support their families, beacause now they have to give money to help others too.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I see where your coming from, but when these people or their family gets really sick, they will be helped too.

The government just needs to butt out. This healthcare is a joke. Why should we have to pay for others who generally choose to pay for other, unnecassary things (like cell phones and satelite TV) instead of health insurance? Why should we have to pay for someone to have an abortion because they were too slutty to keep their legs closed? The only people this health care benefits are the lazy, the sluts, the irresponsible, and the idiotic.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

EXACTLY! Not to mention that the health care system would deteriorate over time. Just look at Canada's system! It's terrible! The average wait in an emergency room is 23 hours!

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Just look at Belgium, the Netherlands, Fance and most European countries. It doesn't have to end badly.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

It doesn't work as good there as the liberals would like you to believe.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Why does this healthcare have to be a joke? I'm pretty sure that any parents would choose insurance before satellite TV, and (nobody said anything about government paid abortions. That is a whole other subject.), maybe those families had been declined from a Health Insurance Company. And if somebody in your family got sick and needed surgery, you'd like them to get that surgery. It is not guessing saying that it will work, we have seen it work in so many countries. It is so weird that US haven't got healthcare, given how developed and powerful a country you are.

You know, even people who don't have cars still use the roads. Otherwise they'd be stuck in one place 24/7. So yeah, there IS a reason everyone pays taxes for road repairs, because EVERYONE uses them. Use better examples if you insist on fighting for stupidity.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

You could be right, but these people still went to school, and still use roads in some way, be it public transportation, crossing it while walking to their job, or living there because I am already paying for everything they need.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

We already pay for it ever heard of Medicaid (its different from Medicare) or Passport. It just opens up more options. Either way your taxes will go mostly to lazy people that choose to mooch off of the government and a few people that have just fallen on hard times and will not be on it for as long as they can

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I think it's horrible how selfish people have become. Surely we can sacrifice the newest plasma screen tv to help someone who otherwise couldn't go to the doctor. Even if people are lazy and want to "mooch" off the government, it's our moral duty to take care of them. It's not fair to those who genuinely need help to not receive it.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

It's not the people who genuinely need it that I get mad at. It's the people that are too lazy to go get a decent job that I get mad at. It's unfortunate that they make up enough of a statistic to influence our already flawed government.

We pay for wars we don't want and 2% of the military budget would more than cover healthcare.
