I don't think it is, but I've just known a couple guys who say their favorite color is purple and people are like "alright yeah that's cool dude" and then one dude who would say his favorite is pink and other people would be like "omg EW lyk arez u gayz or sumthin?" I'm just sayin', purple is a "girly" color as well as pink, so why is one "accepted" and not the other.
Well purple can come in deeper colors and look masculine while pink gets darker and just looks like a brighter more in your face pink. I believe purple is more of a unisex color while pink is still feminine.
Purple is a mix of both red and blue, both powerful, or at least not strictly feminine, colors. Pink is just a paler shade of red, which implies delicacy.
pink used to be the color for baby boys (it was seen as a lighter shade of red, a masculine warm color) and light blue was for girls as it was seen as feminine and a symbol of virginity. This is why cinderella has a blue dress as opposed to a pink one. I don't know how/why it changed.
It's not...

Hmm yeah I see your point.

Purple symbolizes royalty, also.
But you just said that red was powerful, and then that it was delicacy...
Red is powerful. Pink is a paler red, implying less power, as in weakness.
Ahh okay, I think I read it weird.
I think you read it wired.
Put the amphetamines down, man! Don't let them destroy your life how they destroyed mine!

Pink isn't so weird, but purple is actually still seen as weird.
