-292 Two gay men adopting a girl could become awkward when she hits puberty. Sure, she has a stable, loving family, but what is she supposed to do when she needs to start wearing bras? What about when she runs out of pads or tampons? Her dads will probably freak out completely, amirite?

1. Fathers usually do know about female puberty/menstration, and can often consult a book/Internet to give advice for daughters. 2. There will probably be female adults in the picture - Aunts, teachers, etc., that would answer personal questions males wouldn't know.

Also, being gay doesn't mean you'd "freak out". OMG THERES A VAGINA! AND THERES BLOOD COMING OUT! WHAT DO WE DO!?!?

What about young girls who are bought up by a single father? Most grown men are mature enough to deal with the situation and not freak out.

Men don't freak out about periods

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It wouldn't always make much different tbh, a lot of girls don't talk to their mothers about that sort of thing either.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But who would you go to when you first get your period? I know I certainly went to my mother...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not all girls do...

I went to my older sister first, and I don't tell her secrets! I just couldn't stand my mom bringing me a "product".

I already knew what a period was and what to expect before I ever got mine, so when my first one started, I just "borrowed" pads from my sister.

Don't talk you just embaress yourself.

I honestly think they wouldn't mind going shopping for bras and the such.

I've grown up with a Dad and a older brother pretty much all my life. Puberty was harder for me. My dad doesn't like to discuss things like puberty, sex, etc with anyone. So i pretty much learned everything from friends. I had to buy my own tampons and guess my bra size, since he wouldn't take me.

This is completely stupid... this would also be said about single fathers. Men will be able to handle these situations as best they can no matter if they're gay or straight. You're just being idiotic.

Depends on the dads - if they were mature individuals and actually did the research, they'd be able to handle it.
