I've found it best to be honest. Sometimes my friends ask me if their hair is fine and I give them an honest opinion.

I wouldn't want them walking around with an Elizabethan hairstyle going on.

But sometimes, people need to be told the hurtful truth so they can face their problems, rather than telling then a little white lie so you don't hurt their feelings, but that lie may lead to their problem becoming bigger later in life, amirite?
