+370 Animal testing should be illegal, Amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't like it, but who do you propose we test on?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh I don't know, people? Like people who volunteer to do it. It's just the poor animal doesn't have a choice to so it and that's not right.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, there's a problem with that. Sometimes a product can go wrong and give whoever volunteered an allergic reaction or harm them. We use animals because it doesn't harm an actual person. I don't like it, but that's the way it is. Yeah, it's ineffective but at least we know some products are harmful before they actually hurt a person. Quite honestly, I wish they would just use something similar to human skin to test makeup, though. But even in that case we wouldn't know if it burns to use or something.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The thing with using animals is that animals aren't exactly like people so thu won't react the same way and if the animals don't react and thy put in on shelvs and people use it and thy react to it, then what? Honestly they need to find something else to test it on besides animals.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

what is wrong with humans dying anyways, humans are no different than animals... we are just animals who learned how to shave and kill each other over fairy tales.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because, this world is a human society. You don't see animals "ruling" the world. We have LAWS, and human testing would probably break these laws. Humans are above "animals", we are above the other animals, top of the food chain.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, you can die first! hahaha it doesn't matter, right? You are a worthless excuse for a person. A shame to mankind. God created humans as the pinnacle of creation. We have control over all living things.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you serious.... do you think the animals care?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Umm...we already do that. We test on animals first to make sure that the product, you know, doesn't kill it. Then the product moves on to clinical testing, and then the human test groups get larger as time goes on. Finally once the product proves to be safe and effective, it is put up on the market.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay then, test the products on yourselves if you don't want animals to do it. God, this is why I hate animal lovers. They're always bitching about how we mistreat animals. Yes, animals should be treated fairly, but in the grand scheme of things, humans are above animals; it's proven scientifically if you don't believe me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just because we CAN force our will onto other creatures does not mean we should.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And what is science? A bunch of man-made theories. Don't put so much stock into science. And in essence we are all animals. And Vivisection labs do UNNECCASARY testing on animals. I've heard many horror stories. Do some actual RESEARCH on them before you act like a dumbass.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Fuck You): I don't know what's more disgusting, the fact the you all suddenly bitch when it comes to animals, or no one is affected when humans are slaughtered (eg. war, movies, genocide). Fuck you to asswipe. Go do YOUR goddamn research.

Medicine = good. Shampoo = bad.

When every member in our family is hale and hearty, it is very difficult to understand as to why the innocent animals are used for testing purposes that usually ends up killing them. But it usually starts to make more sense when someone in the family or you yourself starts suffering from a life threatening disease. It is a very symbiotic relationship that is also a very integral part of medical research. Testing on animals has helped develop vaccines for many life threatening diseases like Herpes Simplex, Hepatitis B, Polio, rabies, malaria, mumps and virus related to organ transplantation rejection. In addition to this, animal testing has also helped in the refinement of procedures related to measuring the blood pressure, pacemaker technology and the perfection of the heart and lung diseases. You will be surprised to read that anesthesia which is used to numb the body during surgery and acute pain is available today after it was successfully tested on animals first.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The major pro for animal testing is that it aids researchers in finding drugs and treatments to improve health and medicine. Many medical treatments have been made possible by animal testing, including cancer and HIV drugs, insulin, antibiotics, vaccines and many more. It is for this reason that animal testing is considered vital for improving human health and it is also why the scientific community and many members of the public support its use. In fact, there are also individuals who are against animal testing for cosmetics but still support animal testing for medicine and the development of new drugs for disease.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My brother works in biochemistry, as part of his job he has to give monkeys symptoms similar to Parkinson disease. The treatment he tests on the monkeys are too dangerous for human testing and so the only way to test them is to use live animals. The monkeys are kept and fed in comfortable conditions with good food, each monkey costs about 40 000 dollars to keep, when they are put down they are sedated lethally, they never feel a thing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's happened to me once. It was great! :D Of course, I AM filled with cotton, but...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What about pet food? Can we test that out before we ship it around the world to feed our beloved animals with?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You people who preach about animal rights and how animals shouldn't be tested on should seriously shut the fuck up and educate yourselves first. You go on an on about the rights of animals that you violate EVERYDAY. Do you KNOW what's in the products you use daily? Animals are killed for a lot of things that you are probably unaware of. You eat meat, too? Those animals probably didn't volunteer to do that either. And plus, it is absolutely ethically wrong to test on another human. Sure, the animals didn't choose to be in a lab. But whose life would you pick? The human (who has a family, friends, job etc etc), or an animal who isn't CAPABLE of these things, and has an immensely shorter life span? :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Before I buy something I always check to make sure it isn't tested on animals

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm talking about using animal based products. And I would like to add that I don't support the testing on animals for cosmetics.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Saying that people who support animal rights should shut the fuck up is just rude. Sure, a lot of people take it with a light heart and do other things to hurt animals (like you pointed out), but a lot actually live an entire lifestyle dedicated to not hurting animals, for example being vegetarian or vegan. Try to consider that some of the people advocating animal rights are actually educated in it before you start saying things like that. It's just rude. Oh, and you don't think that testing on animals is ethically wrong at all? Animal cruelty, perhaps? Some people would say (and I'm not saying I'm one of them, just providing some debate), that animals are better than humans in all aspects. They feed us, clothe us, give us company and all these other things, yet what do we give them in return? How much better are they with us here? So some people may say that animals are worth more, and that it is wrong to hurt them even more through testing. Just sayin'

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What do we do for them in return? Oh, I don't know, house them and protect them, feed them and make sure that they don't go extinct. Track them and make efforts at preserving their habitat. You know, all of those things, but that's nothing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is true, but if we weren't damaging their habitat, polluting their environment and killing them off, we wouldn't really have to do any of those things at all. They'd be fine and able to live naturally without interference from mankind. So really that's not helping them. That's trying to fix what we ruined.

Test on prisoners.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Being convicted of a crime doesn't make you any less of a human being with basic rights.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No I mean prisoners on death row, give them the choice to be tested on or die.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm pretty sure that could be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's kind of what they did in Fullmetal Alchemist...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aren't humans mammals? And aren't mammals animals as well? So does this post only apply to scientific testing or school testing, cause if it's for the latter then I agree fullheartedly. But judging by the comments, I would say that it isn't about school testing...never mind.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

To the people who say we should test things on humans, news flash, WE DO! People make lots of money for testing medicines on themselves. Jesus, do some research before you comment.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think that for things like medicine it's acceptable. But they should try to find an alternative for things like makeup.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You retard know that there's way to test products on genetics and not animals. And MANY products are not tested on animals. This society is just too fucked up to stop vivisection.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What? What's wrong with animal testing? Or did you mean testing products on animals. Cuz I take tests all the time at school :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So agree with this post. Plus, Animals are different from humans, so who says yeah this worked on a rat, it's obviously going to have the same effect on curing ________ of _________. Plus, only 6% of animal testing is done for medical research- the rest is the cosmetics industry.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It should be legal if it's medical research, not for lip gloss.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What nobody has mentioned is that even if we did get rid of animal testing and tested everything on humans, who the heck would they get to do it? I mean when you do a clinical trial you're required to inform patients of what might happen to them if they take the product. Even for cosmetics testing, who would agree to use a new mascara that for all you know might make you go blind? The chance might be slim but if it's there people are going to be nervous. It's just not a viable option, you could never get the amount of subjects you need for a reliable test. Animal testing is necessary just to make sure some horrific unexpected side effect isn't going to happen (which is unlikely, but still, you have to be sure); you can work out the kinks on people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What's wrong with giving my cat a few multiple choice questions now and then?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I just did a 4 page persuasive research paper about this. Reading about how they treat the animals in research labs made me so sad, it's ridiculous. So many animals are killed and I know for a fact that their are better ways to do most of the research.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

errr... I meant *there* are better ways.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you eat meat you shouldn't have a problem with animal testing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Eating meat is different. The animal is usually painlessly killed. They have to suffer in some of the labs... With medicine, it's necessary. Testing on make up is just stupid and awful.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Animals have to suffer in horrid conditions in factory farms, and numerous exposes on the food industry have revealed that it is often the case that animals are not painlessly killed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ONLY WATCH THIS IF YOU PLAN TO BE VEGAN, OR ARE NOT GROSSED OUT BY THINGS. http://www.meat.org is proof that they aren't painlessly killed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I watched that thinking I could handle it; but honestly I don't know if I'll ever be able to eat meat again. I knew they were treated poorly, but I had no idea they were treated that horribly. They just killed the sick/undersized piglets by slamming them into concrete, slitting the throats of pigs and cows and watching them struggle afterward not to mention all the fish that are killed... they are all thrown around like they are nothing.... the people that do that to those poor animals are just sick human beings.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think COSMETIC animal testing should be illegal, and animal testing for cleaning products. I mean is injecting detergent into a mouse's bloodstream until it dies necessary? What about smearing burning hot lipstick onto a rabbit's eyeballs? Last time I checked, my lips were NOT bunny eyes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Here is my opinion, animal testing for anything extending human life should be legal. e.g testing for cures for cancer, Cosmetics/other unnecessary stuff should be tested on people.
