+196 Have humans advanced so much we've stopped our own evolution and are going backwards? Instead of being born better, with a rare ability to fly or something, we are being born with obesity and diabetes, amirite?

People are not born obese.

Win.

Babies born to obese woman are heavier and have higher blood sugar levels at birth. Sad stuff. *I don't agree with the post*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

babies may be born heavier but they aren't born obese.

Babies are born with a tendency to become obese. Since our diets as a whole aren't very nutritious, when a woman is pregnant (unless she eats healthy food all the time), what she eats in the first few days is going to affect her baby. The lack of nutrients will tell the body that it's going to be born into a harsh environment without many nutrients (and to our bodies, nutrients = food), so therefore it's going to need to keep weight on to survive times without food. But because we have so much food, this isn't the case. Then you have the whole shit diet later in life too.

All that high fructose corn syrup crap

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes because that one ingrediant is to blame for all the worlds problems.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, in case you haven't noticed you douchebag illiterate, these chemicals in our food are making a difference, whether people like you are too ignorant to see that or not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You should stop drinking the corn syrup and learn about grammar.

"With a rare ability to fly or something" lmao

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm so de-evolved I was born an amoeba.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, if you keep on letting the stupid people in the world live, natural selection can't work.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Blame modern medicine :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

^ Yeah, exactly... medicine screws with natural selection... but then, I'm not going to complain *too* much, as I have to wear contacts b/c my eyes are pretty bad, so if the science of optometry hadn't developed, I'd totes be dead already b/c I couldn't hunt for food or support myself with a job or anything.
