umm...the people on jersey shore like being called Guido/guidettes so why would it be bad?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because everyone else thinks that the people on Jersey Shore are the scum of the earth.
by Anonymous13 years ago
How the fuck did they come up with that shit?
Guido in italian is a verb that has nothing to do with being a fucking retard.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't know why but at first when I saw the word Guido the first thing I thought of was the Geico lizard thing.

"Guido is a slang term for a lower-class or working-class urban Italian-American. The guido stereotype is multi-faceted. Originally, it was used as a demeaning term for Italian-Americans in general. More recently, it has come to refer to Italians who conduct themselves as thugs with an overtly macho attitude. The time period in which it obtained the latter meaning is not clear, but some sources date it to the 1970s or 1980s" Interesting...

Go to New Jersey and call a normal Italian a Guido and see how quickly your ass gets kicked. Guido IS a racial slur toward Italians, which is why the fact that these idiots on Jersey Shore caused such an uproar in New Jersey.

i live in new Jersey and if you are italian you are called a guido...and they like being called that; even before Jersey Shore
by Anonymous13 years ago
Where in Jersey are you from? My mom used to work in Hillside and Guido was a HUGE insult to any Italian there. I grew up being told to never say the words "guido" or "benny" out loud because they'd offend people.

south jersey...do you live in jersey now?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I used to. My mother's from south Jersey, I'm from central. Maybe it's our generation, I don't know, but I was brought up being told that calling an Italian a Guido was a huge insult.
