I recently started talking to this guy. He referred to one of my friends as the "kinda big one". My friend doesn't talk to him. I was wrong in telling her he said that about her, amirite?

So wrong. First of all, he said "The kinda big one". At least he didn't just call her fat.

Also, sometimes, ignorance is bliss. All that you accomplished by telling her was that you probably upset her. If you just didn't say anything, she never would've known, and wouldn't have gotten upset over it.

All in all, bad decision.

I know, it really was. I act without thinking it fully through a lot. I guess I just wanted her to know someone was saying bad things about her. I didn't really realize all it would cause was her getting upset. And now she's mad at me. God, I am so stupid. :(

I don't think she should really be mad at you. I agree you shouldn't have told her, but she should recognize that you were just trying to do the right thing.

Thanks. It's been a while since someone has shown me genuine kindness and care and you have. So really, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I don't get why we all have to be so sensitive over people's weight. It's not a big deal. And if THEY think it is, THEY should change it.
People get all huffy when they can't distinguish between a while and black man without being racist (see the TOP POST on this site) yet when someone tries to do the same between a lighter and heavier person, all of a sudden they're insensitive. What gives.
It's not like he referred to your friend as a big fat fatty. He said she was the heavier one, and you knew who he meant, and obviously so did she. If it offended her so badly, maybe she should be the one to do something about it.

It's okay, we know you meant well. Maybe tell her that you didn't say that to hurt her, and that you genuinely thought she'd want to know? Good luck /:
