Soda machines should be in all public schools. amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
My school has them, snack machines too.

And increase acne in teenagers?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Acne is not exactley a life threatening disease, or just drink diet. Also, high-schoolers generally can make their own decisions.
by Anonymous14 years ago
if they want it at school and they don't get it they're going to drink it at home. So why not?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Soda has no correlation with acne.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's disgusting, unhealthy, and a good amount of the time is caused my poor choices in diet. Let alone soda, which also decreases the marrow in your bones.
by Anonymous14 years ago
It's not like people are FORCED to buy them. They have a choice.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Well I choose clear skin and strong bones
by Anonymous14 years ago
That's good. But I say again, that's YOUR decision. We all have a choice in the end.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Very true, very true nobody can tell you what to drink
by Anonymous14 years ago
Precisely.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I think the point may be that schools are supposed to teach kids good decision-making skills, and having soda machines all over the place only advocates a poor diet.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, i drink more soda than anyone I know, and I am perfectly healthy.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Not everyone has the same amazing ability as you to magically get rid of empty calories. There are lots of students at my school who are not mature enough to make their own decisions, as sad as that sounds. Yes, I'm in high school.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Soda is stupid. It's just empty calories and poses no health benefit whatsoever. Some schools don't even have chocolate milk anymore, so why should they have soda?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Cause a lot of people like soda and it's a good way to make money?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Soda hydrates you, therefore it has a health benefit.

Think of how much better for you water is.
by Anonymous13 years ago
im not saying that they should have them, but its pretty dumb to think that just because they dont have soda machines at school everyone will automatically lead this great, healthy lifestyle because people eat/drink whatever they want at home.
by Anonymous13 years ago
In my school, we don't even have juice in the vending machines, only water or fruit-flavored water. I think the government is trying to fight obesity right now. Yes, students have a choice to drink it or not, but to advocate soda in ALL public schools?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Maybe not /soda/, but something other than water. We don't even have iced tea anymore...
by Anonymous13 years ago
I'm shocked no one has made a joke about the poster living in America.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, I don't think they should be like HERE! BUY A SODA! But I don't think they should be banned.
Highschool IS about making the right choices, but if you don't have the bad choices, you'll never learn how to actually MAKE choices. They will be made for you.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Some guy from my class buys coca cola EVERY day from that machine. But that's his problem, I guess.
by Anonymous13 years ago
My school has one, but it only has diet soda, so it's not that big of a deal. Only one of the 5 machines has soda though (the others have G2 and Water) and only the teachers lounge has regular soda.
That being said, public schools shouldn't be forced to have them.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't think having soda in schools is a big deal, but I also think that schools should be able to have healthy choices (i.e, water, fruit bars, etc...) and "unhealthy" choices (soda, candy bars...) in the same place, so kids have the option. The government really shouldn't be allowed to censor what kids eat and don't, because they can't watch what the kids eat everywhere else, so I just don't see the point. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
by Anonymous13 years ago
I go to private school and we have snack machines in every building, but we can't get non-diet soda unless we go to the on-campus "school store". There are only diet sodas in the vending machines thanks to Michelle Obama. But I don't like soda anyway, so it doesnt matter to me.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeh.. I used to drink like, literally, half a liter of coke everyday at home until my parents stopped getting us sodas and, instead, brang more Gatorade, water bottles, juices, etc. Just cause of that, my skins been better, my teeth are stronger, and I feel more active. When your provided with these health-ruining choices for your diet, you tend to take advantage. So, I wouldn't mind Sodas but maybe you should only get them from the food lines and there should be some system in machines that parents can choose between the limit the student can buy those drinks. But, I totally agree that they should have a better variety of drinks, and food, apart from the regular milk, apple juice, and water.

I made the choice to only drink water during the week with the exception of maybe one glass of 100% squeezed orange juice, and can have maybe an energy drink or a glass of coke in the weekend. My skin is looking so much better because of it, and I just wish everyone would do the same.
