+117 You hate it when a teacher talks about politics in class, because you can't disagree without being considered "disrespectful". amirite?

No way. 1. You can be respectful. 2. You have to know what you're talking about. 3. Make sure that teacher doesn't know your name.

That's why you don't "disagree". Simply make it sound like you're skeptical and don't fully understand what the teacher is saying. Keep asking questions that suggest your beliefs but also nod and pretend to agree with teacher. The key is to not sound like a pompous asshole who thinks they're view is the only correct one.

I think you can disagree without sounding like a pompous asshole.

I think it's funny. One of my teachers somehow got into sharing her whole voting history with the class. She said the first time she.voted for president, she voted for Nixon or some republican that screwed us all over. After that, she always voted for the democrat, despite what the candidate stands for.

I never really cared about being seen as disrespectful if I disagreed, but I openly disagreed if I did nonetheless, I just talked to them in a way I would anyone else with it. If they open up the discussion to the class they should expect a class of 30+ students at least one isn't going to see the same way.

This is why most teachers don't share their opinions on politics.
