+329 It's weird to think that if Jesus hadn't died on a cross, but been hanged, or beheaded, we would probably all be wearing little axe or hangman's noose necklaces. We would have huge, intricate ropes or axes looming over us in church. We would trace a circle around our necks when being blessed, rather than crosses. More so, with religious allusions in books, rather than say dying sprawled as if h... amirite?

If he was stoned, we'd all wear little rocks. If he was flayed... don't want to think about that.

If he was stoned, we'd be wearing little bongs or joints. Hahahahahaa

It's not weird at all because Jesus did NOT die on a cross. :-/ It was not the custom to use a cross, a stake was used instead. The cross as used in worship came from pagan customs, long before Christianity came along. And it was adopted long after Jesus died.

(Truth.): very true, actually most christian customs come from the catholic church trying to get rid of pagan influences

(Truth.): Evidence?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have nothing against any religion, but Christmas was moved to December supposedly so Christianity would cover the pagan winter solstice. I don't know this for sure though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That is true. There is nothing in the Bible that says Jesus was born in December. He said Jesus didn't die on a cross. Evidence?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, he was definitely born in spring, because they watched the lambs at night. It was just to compete with the pagan things and so that he would have been 33.3 years old when he died in spring.

On a side note, they never mention 3 wise men. Just wise men.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And they never said where they came from. stupid fat medieval clergymen.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Truth.): Uh.... yes he did. Jesus died on the cross. Romans used crosses in order to deal with traitors and people trying to claim power over the ruler. Jesus was considered a traitor because he was proclaimed to be "king" of the Jews. While he never said he was king in the earthly sense he was king in the heavenly sense they still put him to death as a traitor to the ruler of Rome. There was even a time where the road to Rome was lined with people who were crucified. They killed people in that manner if they were traitors due to the intense pain of the death because you suffocate when you are nailed to the cross.

(Truth.): Pics or it didn't happen

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i dont get the last sentence..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It got cut off, I was gonna go one something like this: the character representing a christ figure would be kneeling, head on a stump or hanging from a tree, rather than sprawled arms out as if crucified... Amirite didn't mention there was a character-limit, so I didn't see it until it was posted.

Wasn't Jesus naked on the cross? Yet every crucifix features him wearing rags. Also, statues/drawing of the Virgin Mary at the time of Jesus's birth show her to be a young woman, when she was around 13 when she gave birth.
