+298 Sometimes it's nice to see the cocky, really smart kid say the wrong answer in class. Amirite?

if they were truly smart, they wouldn't allow themselves to be cocky

...And sometimes it's kind of, er, amusing when they argue with the teacher. XDXD

I did once in 5th grade. The teacher tried to teach us some stuff about black holes and said they were 10km across. I said I thought the black hole was a point-like singularity and the rest is just a region where light can't escape. She sent me out of the class. Like half the class looked it up when they went home, and we proved the teacher wrong the next day.

A really good friend of mine has gotten in this instance on multiple occasions. Seriously, the guy is fantastic, but he REALLY needs to pick his battles sometimes. Every once in a while he'll just yell at one of my teachers and waste at least 20 minutes arguing, and the rest of the class may as well not exist. It takes every ounce of self-control for me not to crack up from nervous laughter.

Yeah. Now I wait until after the lesson to clarify stuff with my science teachers. I think part of the reason they get so defensive is because I undermined their authority in front of the class...
