+764 I don't get why it's such a big fucking deal if we're 30 seconds late to class, it's not like the teacher was doing anything with that time anyways, amirite?

So true. I was late for work one time and my boss got mad at me. I'm just like..wtf.

At my school, we have this thing called sweep. It doesn't matter if you walk in when the bell is ringing, they send you to the SWEEP room and you get to sit there for an hour and do nothing. They don't even send in the classwork or anything. "we want you to show up and be on time for class, so if you're not on time, you don't get to come to class at all". You can't even play with your pencil. Sit up straight, eyes forward, do nothing.

omg thats terrible!

yeah it's boring as shit

my old middle school did that I think. It was totally random though so the times I was late, I didn't get caught. I don't know what happened to those who got caught though.

My high school did that too. It was ridiculous, missing the first 40 seconds of class doesn't hurt you. missing the first 40 minutes of class DOES. the only reason they had that stupid policy was because if the faculty got tardiness down to under 10%, they all got a raise. so suddenly my high school got all nazi germany, asking to see your papers every single god damn time you were in the hall.

I hate it when you're walking into class as the bell rings and they still mark you late... Really unnecessary.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A bitchy teacher assumes that during that 30 seconds of where you weren't in class, you were doing something like smoking pot or making out with other people. >___>;

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dude, I'm never 30 seconds late, I a 30 minutes late!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My geometry teacher always freaks out because I don't bring my book to class, and I have to go get it. Its either me getting here a bit late, or me asking you to get it, but I'm not carrying that thing around with me all day, so take your pick, hun.

It's annoying when you're about 8 seconds late because you went to the bathroom of something, and then the teacher freaks out because, "5 minutes is more than enough time to go to your locker, get a drink, go to the bathroon, and get to class on time." It's like, stfu. No it's not. Especially because the stupid school no longer uses paper towels, so you have to wait 2 minutes for the hand dryers to dry them. Also, not everyone can pee in a time span of 30 seconds. AND if you're unlucky, you have one of those lockers that either is on the other side of the school from the class, jams frequently, or is crowded by idiot pot smoker who won't get out of the way in front of it.

or you get one of those couples that's like having sex in front of your locker.

Ikr, it's so stupid when you're walking in right as class starts and they mark you late. It's like, wow, I'm in class aren't I? On the other hand, it really isn't that difficult to be on time...

My high school is huge. if i have to go all the way across the school in 5 minutes, being a freshman and having to deal with asshole seniors provides difficulty. walking into class on the bell or five seconds after isnt bad, being on time in your seat can be hard. teachers don't do shit for that first minute, sometimes even more. so..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe you should be on time. In those 30 seconds, your teacher might have explained that "anyways" is not proper English. It is colloquial expression. I understand that this is amirite not formal writing but "anyways" irks me. -_-

by Anonymous 13 years ago

so anyways...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, I've gotten two detentions because I wasn't in my seat as the bell rang! One time I was in the classroom when the bell rang, and they marked me late...:(

I think it's the principle of punctuality that they care about, not that one would miss 30 seconds of class material.
