They aren't beliefs, they're theories. And even if they've been proven wrong, it's still a belief that they hold, which they've been misinformed about. Calling someone stupid for a belief is the same as calling them stupid for an opinion. It's the way they think.

Thinking that, say, the moon landing was a hoax is a beleif, is it not? They beleive in their theory. And the point is that they still beleive in it even after they have been properly informed, so they're not misinformed anymore.

For some people the, the lack of definitive hard evidence from the time, plus their own misinformed ideas (The flag couldn't have been moving, you couldn't see the stars, etc.) contributed to the theory though. So it's the fact they're misinformed that put the idea forward, and the fact that they're stubborn stops them from thinking differently.

No, you can be stupid with what you believe. Amd you can be stupid with your opinions, and you can be stupid with the way you think. Otherwise someone who really thinks 2+2=22 shouldn't be called stupid because that's "just the way they think." I'm on my phone so excuse my mistake but it's still pretty dumb to think nobody has stupid opinions or beliefs. Do you think the people who think Bush wanted 9/11 to happen, those who don't believe in the Holocaust, who believe vaccines cause autism, or those who believe any miniority is inferior are not dumb? Do you honestly think that? Because they're all stupid. And while right now you don't care that I think you're stupid, you really should because everybody can see how idiotic this post is and it's only damaging you and the rest of the morons who agree.
