+290 Homosexuality will truly be accepted when parents get apprehensive about their teenagers hanging out with those of the same sex, as well as the opposite sex, amirite?

If your kid's straight why would you care about them hanging around someone of the same sex, likewise if the teenager is open to their parent's about their homosexuality then the parents shouldn't care if they hang around someone of the opposite sex.

A lot of people come out of the closet in their teenage years, and those who don't rarely talk about their sexuality with their parents. I have, by choice, not yet had a girlfriend, and am straight, but my parents really have no way of knowing.

How about parents just trust their kids and not be apprehensive about them hanging out with someone just based on that person's sex?

That would kinda suck, tbh.

Dont know what to make of this..but all i know is that when I can't be safe around my own gender, something is really wrong with the world.

I normally would join the Christian(NOT to be taken as homophobe) side of the homosexuality debate, but saying that is going to make a lot of people angry...I might be Christian and I don't completely support it, but don't be a homophobe.

I have nothing against homosexuals. All I am saying is that the relationships between people of the same gender will inevitably change as you may have to wonder if your same sex friend likes you as a friend, or more. I, personally, do not want to have to worry about that with my female friends.

I know why parents can be/should be concerned about that (and sorry I'm stating the obvious), but a male and a female can have a baby. So yeah, I'd be more concerned about that. Other than that, I agree with this post; parents should be concerned if their son/daughter is sexually active, no matter if they're straight or not.
