+290 Its not right that photographers are allowed to follow famous people, if some weirdo with a camera started stalking a person a person in the street its considered a crime, amirite?

I've always thought this!! And so many celebrities are being sued for breaking cameras and hitting paparazzi, if it was anyone else it would just be considered self defence

Actually, no. It's legal to photograph someone if they are in a public place. It's also legal to video-record them as long as you are not recording sound.

You can't wait outside their house and follow them, though. That's called stalking..

Paparazzi is allowed to photograph anyone who has "thrust themselves into the lime light." As long as they're not in they're house. And a few other rules. Look it up.
