What I think they're saying is that when most people say where they live online it's usually a "cool" place like New York, California, Florida, or New Jersey. Either that or the UK. I will freely admit that I live in Michigan. Am I less cool now, that I don't "live" in New York? (Though I'm not sure that's the sort of place I'd want to live in anyway. Maybe for a visit though.)

I live in NJ, and trust me its sucks, it is far too over rated. I would rather want to move Maine someday. So trust me even though most people think NJ is cool it is not, because people only pay attention to the shore, wannabe giudos, and Italian food. Plus a lot of people don't associate with those categories

I'm live in Montana... not the place for me at all. I live in a decently sized city, Billings, which has 100,000 people.... the problem is it's the biggest city between Calgary and Denver. I travel quite often, and the more I get out, the more I dislike it. The close-mindedness and lack of diversity doesn't help either.

I live in NY, but not in the city part, in upstate NY and I hate how people just assume your from NYC when you say your from NY...the part where I live is actually very rural and mountainous with a VERY small population so yeah...I wasn't really trying to prove a point I just felt like announcing that to everyone.
