Evolutionists and Creationists: Why should either of you care what the other believes? Why should you get all offended because someone has a different explanation for the origin of species. Just don't get in eachothers face about the subject and we can all get along. amirite?

yawn something like this has been posted roughly a bazillion times. I'd suspect most of the arguments come about because creationists expect others to abide by their ridiculous and outdated system of morality, and basically condemn them when they don't. Most atheists and agnostics that I know have zero interest in arguing with religious people... mostly because we like rational debate, and faith is irrational. If religious people would stop trying to pass laws making everyone conform to their beliefs, we wouldn't care at all what they thought.

Why thankies sir xD

@Maybe a little respect on BOTH sides would go a long way.

When I see it, I reply in kind. However silly I may think most religious beliefs are, I don't go out of my way to insult people about it or bring it up; I don't have to. Simply admitting to being an atheist is like throwing a rock at a virtual hornet's nest of religious people shrug If they want to try to shame me or tell me why I'm "evil" or "damned", then scathing mockery is what they're going to get in return... and that's what usually happens.

A lot of the debate is about what is taught in schools, not necessarily about who is right. Nonreligious people don't want their kids being taught theology, and religious people want their kids to be taught about what they believe is the truth. It's not like people can resolve that easily.

If you're trying to describe a Creationist's point of view...that's not only plain stupid, but disrespectful and argumentative.

@Not even close

Please tell me how you would describe it then

http://www.evanwiggs.com/articles/reasons.html read this too. There is nothing referencing the Bible, as far as I could tell. It is all based on laws of science and such.

@Geoff It's not stupid, it's exactly what creationists believe

Evolutionists always say that Creationism isn't science, but you obviously don't even know what Creationism is. You should do some research before you say that Creationism is wrong. Here are some sites you should check out:

Also, download this article, it will answer your question about the biblical belief in dinosaurs and dinosaur fossils:

Or you could all just join me in believing that Earth was created on Magrathea for the mice.

Some people try to shove their beliefs down others' throats. When they do that to me, I will retaliate with rational argument.

Wouldnt it take greater faith to believe that the millions of intricately co-ordinated parts of a Cell arose by chance than to believe that just the cell, nevermind the human body - is the product of an awesome intelligent mind? Sorry but it ticks me off when others make faith sound like such a stupid thing.

Sorry, but just because a person isn't religious doesn't mean they believe in the Big Bang Theory. I believe what is proven, and nothing else. Things that have no answer are simply that, to me, until proven answers are found.
Btw, if science and religion never conflict, how did your adam name the dinosaurs, hmm? Being as how there weren't any homo sapiens around at that time.

The main reason I liked this was your awesome DP! But fair arguement as well!

Sorry darling but do you see a "never" in any of my comments? ..Thank you and since we asking each other questions how did evolution/what ever it is you belive create the eye?

@GreenHairOrangeEyes Sorry darling but do you see a "never" in any of my comments? ..Thank you and since we asking each other questions...

I quote: "a careful study of the bible reveals NO CONFLICT with established scientific facts"... oh, you mean like humans coming eons after dinosaurs? Yes "dear"; you did say never, you just didn't use that word. Please do try being condescending where it's warranted next time, "hun". Also, I never claimed to be a scientist, and if you actually read my comments you'd have already learned that not being religious doesn't necessarily mean you believe in anything else...including evolution. As previously stated, I believe what's proven; nothing more or less than that. I believe what science hasn't explained yet eventually will be, whether I live to see it or not. I don't trouble myself with unanswerable questions... there's too much real life out there to experience. I understand that religious people throw the word "belief" around lightly, and that it's hard for you to comprehend being content not knowing where we came from or what's next, but that's the way I live... and very ...

@Black_No_1 I quote: "a careful study of the bible reveals NO CONFLICT with established scientific facts"... oh, you mean like...

... happily, too. Therefore, you asking me to explain where the eyeball comes from is pointless and a little silly- my not knowing that proves absolutely nothing.

it's not the beliefs that have people up in arms it's the fact that both sides are trying to eliminate the other.

@Saigot it's not the beliefs that have people up in arms it's the fact that both sides are trying to eliminate the other.

Uh, last I checked, atheists never started an "Anti-holy" war... and I've never met one that wanted to eliminate religious people. We just want them to leave us alone; particularly the political and religious types.

@Black_No_1 Uh, last I checked, atheists never started an "Anti-holy" war... and I've never met one that wanted to eliminate...

i'm trying to be fair, i've never encountered one but i'm sure there are crazy psycho incorrect evolutionists just like there are some perfectly rational Christians who accept evolution and creationism.

@Saigot i'm trying to be fair, i've never encountered one but i'm sure there are crazy psycho incorrect evolutionists just...

Here's the thing though; being an atheist means absolutely nothing except you don't believe in any sort of god, and evolutionist means only that you believe in evolution- which many religious people accept on some levels. However, most religious beliefs include a directive to try to indoctrinate as many people as possible into your faith in order to "save" them... to the point where some christian denominations suggest you "testify" to everyone you meet. Atheism and the belief in evolution have no such demands and directives. We don't have any reason to hate religious people; their beliefs don't affect ours, and we don't care if they believe us. It's not logical that our belief structures would lead us to the same extreme measures as theirs.

@Black_No_1 Here's the thing though; being an atheist means absolutely nothing except you don't believe in any sort of god, and...

Just about every evolutionist I've met has tried, at one point or another, to convince me that my personal beliefs are utter foolishness. As for the 'testify' stuff, as one well-known atheist put it, if someone believed with all their heart that something terrible was about to happen to you, wouldn't you want them to at least mention it?

If someone believed with all their heart that you were wasting your life, wouldn't you want them to mention it? Also, i'd be willing to bet those evolutionists didn't start the conversations you speak of.

It seems to me that the atheists are the ones that start most of the fights. I have seen many trying to argue and make Christians change their beliefs. If you want them to leave you alone, stop arguing with them

Sounds like what I refer to as "selective perception"; believe me, the day I never have to defend my rational life choices against irrational religious slander or deal with laws based on religious beliefs will be a glad one.

@Black_No_1 Sounds like what I refer to as "selective perception"; believe me, the day I never have to defend my rational life...

I'm not religious either, but it seems like you're kind of taking this to the extreme. Christians and other religious people are free to have their own beliefs, too, they don't have to justify the rationality of it to us. You're both arguing about who starts evolutionism/creationism debates, but really? Are you six years old?

Yeah, because asking someone obviously older if they're 6 is really mature... ono smilie The point, obviously, is that defending onself against verbal abuse and scorn is hardly the same as targeting religious people for argument, and that is usually what happens when one of those debates starts, in my experience.

The bible and science agree on many points actually and a careful study of the bible reveals no conflict with established scientific facts. the problem lies with christian fundamentalists who falsely assert their opinions with "According to the Bible.." Shakes head damn humans :)

evolution is 100% proven, actually.

Anonymous -3Reply
@evolution is 100% proven, actually.

(.): Oh really? How do you know that? It's historical science and not operational science, you know. If it was 100% proven, then why would the theory change a bit (and sometimes a lot) every day?

Bardagis avatar Bardagi Yeah You Are +2Reply
@evolution is 100% proven, actually.

(.): Actually, it hasn't been. There are no fossils that have been found that show species evolving and there is A LOT of scientific evidence that shows evolution can't be possible.
