I've never considered myself a "quite" person, frankly I do not know what a "quite" person would look like. Anyways, I'm not. Nor would you know because of all the shit in that hole in your head, the one where a brain is supposed to be? Yeah that one. I do speak up in class, I actually happen to know people who are shy and do not speak up in class. Yeah I'm a coward, oh wait, I'm not. i'm a really shy person so I almost never participate. I also hate it when I'm forced to work with partners because I prefer to work with myself and I usually get a partner that I hate, or someone who distracts me so I can't get anything done.

I don't see what the big deal is with participating. It helps bring up your grade and the teacher will probably like you better if you participate often. And shy people, you're just answering a question in front of a class not giving an inaugural speech on TV in front of millions of people.

High school is a pain. I mean, you say a wrong answer, you're made fun of, and that hurts (even for 5 minutes). So, most shy/quiet people don't participate in that fear. Or, they are like me, and just hate most people. I answer a question a few times, but I hate that feeling of correction and being told I'm wrong. That's why I fight long after I know I'm wrong, as seen in some of my earlier amirite comments. XD

We actually have a behavior grade, too. So, in Biology, that grade is based off participation. Even though I have the highest grade in that class and get the best test scores, I'm graded down for not answering simple questions I've seen 5 times a week.

I thought i was the only one who did this, because I seem to be the only one who doesn't talk in class. It's a relief to know that there are others out there in my same situation. This is why I get bad grades. I don't really think its fair that they grade us down just for being shy.

I NEVER talk in class so sometimes one of my teachers will call on me when I havent raised my hand because they think im not paying attention but then i give the correct answer. Shows them. xD And actually, what I have is much more than shyness. But let's not go into that. (S.A.D.)

It sucks when participation counts as 8 grades. I solved that problem by getting A's on every test. I am a little shy but when I raise my hand I never get called since my teacher had favorites.
