+171 How cool would it be if in the very beginning, the Earth had some sort of accident during which it split into two and after that continued developing normally. The perfect distance from the Sun, including all those specifics thanks to which life can exist on it, would make like a fraternal twin to Earth with separate species and all - plus it would be close enough for Earth to visit, amirite?

This sounds really good, but ya' lost me after the first sentence. Sorry, but can you explain in simpler terms?

Well, the planets before Earth (Mercury and Venus) are too close to the sun to have appropriate temperature and atmosphere for life (too hot), and the ones after Earth, (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Nepture) are too far (so they have too cold a temperature). Since it would break up, as I'm hoping, while staying in the same orbit as Earth, the two parts would be the same distance from the Sun and would both have life on it! It would be fraternal(not identical) twin because it would have its own evolution and all, evolving to completely different species. Of course, now thinking about this again, breaking up would cause them to go to separate ways and probably fly off to completely different orbits... But w/e, this could happen SOMEHOW, even if it wasn't at all likely.

They say that that might be how the moon was formed.

Yet it's completely different. A 1:9 separation causes completely different results than 5:5. If only they'd both separate into big enough sizes to sustain life, how cool would that be?

The pokemon world!

Two different species on seperate yet similar earths? That sounds like it would be pretty cool. Would one species be a lot more primative than the other, or would they be equal in intelligence?

What. Since when do we have one species?

ono Derp. When did I write that comment?

Just now, about 34 minutes ago no less. Anyway, it'd be up to chance, just like by chance we got humans that are exactly this much evolved. They would even start evolving at different times so who knows -- on one their species would be at a stage equivalent to ours humans being apes while we could be flying on hoverboards on our planet. Or maybe the opposite. Or maybe the meteor only hit the other planet and destroyed its species, and we kept our dinosaurs.
