Exactly. When you hate someone, you still think about them, you still feel emotion toward them, even if it is a negative feeling. Apathy is when you don't feel emotion toward a person at all. And it hurts a lot more than hate. ._.

Apathy is the neutral ground the between the two. Love and hate are still opposites. Apathy is the opposite of feeling, not love.
