What did girls do when they got their periods back in like the 1700s? Were there pads back then or did they use some sort of corn shuck substitute? Amirite?

I think they used rags. Must have taken a hell of a lot of washing though...

They used rags. I'm pretty sure they were closer to pads than tampons though. That's why when a girls on her period someone might say she's "on the rag".

i was taught that they stayed home and used very thick cotton underwear.
