To most Christians, the Bible is like a software license. Nobody actually reads it, they just scroll down to the bottom and click "I agree.", amirite?

Actually, people hate on christianity all the time. I'm a christian and maybe I haven't gotten beat up in an alley but I've definitely been mocked for it. Especially on this website, all you see is criticism of christianity. Run-of-the-mill christians are pretty normal people who don't hate gay people, or whatever else people claim about them. It's the small group extremists that ruin the christian name.

Being ridiculed is not the same as being persecuted. The "Christian name" is ruined because people like you try to put whatever hardships you have to face (on the internet) on the same level as severe persecution.

When did I say I had a hardship? I don't give a fuck who insults me. I didn't claim that my life is miserable because I'm a christian. I just said that people insult Christians for no reason. If you knew anything about Christianity you'd know that the main teaching is to love your neighbor as you love yourself. Therefore, anyone who hates gay people or hates people of different color or anything else like that is not a christian. That's my point. There isn't a problem with christianity, there's a problem with some people who call themselves christians.

Let the grown-ups talk? Please, try to be more condescending. I don't think it's possible.
You don't know anything about me. I DO know what persecution is because I've witnessed it. And it wasn't against a gay person. I don't know why you started out with all the hostility because no one was hating on gays to begin with (in this post).
And you know what? What those cops said is true. They should have done something more about it and I'm sorry they didn't, but other religions and other countries are much less tolerant.
I'm not some sensitive moron that goes and cries when someone calls me a name, so I don't know where you got the idea that I am.
Maybe you should respond to my comment when you learn to be more respectful considering that I said NOTHING rude about you and nothing rude about gay people and all I did was defend something that should be defended.

You don't have to read it, obviously. I just thought it was a good article that proved my point.

@1896512

Just because I haven't been the victim of physical persecution doesn't mean that I don't know what it must feel like. As I said I've witnessed it and I've witnessed it a lot. Against good friends of mine.
I'm sorry that people who call themselves christians have hurt you. Really, I am. It makes me feel bad that there are still people who think that it's okay to do stuff like that.
But is christianity to blame? I don't think so.
I just don't think that violence like that should be blamed on christianity and christians. Most christians I know are fully accepting of gay people. And the christians that I know that are not are still respectful of them.
And nobody is claiming that christianity in infallible, or perfect, or anything else like it.

Change the term to all religions, and bible to include other religious books....much better now.

I've only read a bit of Genesis, some scattered verses they made us read in school and the bits of Revelations that sound like an action movie/fantasy novel/anime.

I wouldn't say most. Anyone who attends church regularly has pretty much heard the whole Bible.

I have only read one bible passage and it was enough...
