+107 Scientists say that we're making too many people and the current resources such as oil or coal can't sustain us for too much longer. It's strange that we've come full circle: before the industrial revolution, we had too few people, and now we suffer from over-copulation, amirite?

I like how over-copulation still makes sense.

How can there be too few people?

People weren't having kids, and when they did their children often didn't survive due to terrible conditions and diseases.

Too few people implies not enough people, just like too many implies more than enough. Just because there weren't that many people doesn't mean there weren't enough. Overpopulation can be a problem because of lack of resources, but I don't see how a small population can be a problem. Having too many resources wouldn't be a problem.

Too few people means you can't support the economy. Not enough people translates to not enough production and not enough demand. It starts a "vicious cycle", as my history teacher called it.
