+142 if someone kills another person they go to jail and get charged for murder. in war, thousands of people are shot every day and the murderer doesn't get in any kind of trouble. this doesn't make sense, amirite?

Its not murder... The intents are different...

A life is still being taken.

Sure war isn't ideal... But to call soldiers murderers is disgusting, ungrateful, and naive. When someone goes to war to protect the people they care about and something they believe in, we group them with someone who focuses solely on their base emotions? Really?

I have no problem with soldiers helping the people who live in Iraq/Afghanistan/etc. For instance, a woman who works at my school has a son who is Iraq. They help the people in the village he's close to by giving the school paper, pencils, crayons, and other things they need, in addition to books. Their presence there makes the nationals feel safer in their own homes, and I have no qualms with that. I do, however, have a problem with people being killed. Sure, some individuals over there shouldn't be wandering amongst innocent civilians, but that doesn't mean we should take there lives. I think it's wrong to put soldiers on the same level as people who gun down their ex girlfriends new boyfriend, but either way a person is no longer living.

but a general murder could be solved just by getting that certain person out of your life. A soldier can't be expected to just run away and hide when someone is shooting at them can they?

If psychos are shooting at soldiers from my country, trying to blow up people who are trying to defend the freedoms that so many people take for granted and keep ungrateful people safe from terrorism, I have no problem with them blowing off that other sick bastard's head. Yeah, sure, and eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind, but don't just stand there and let some jackass stab you in the face. General homicide is someone taking a life of someone innocent. Soldiers only shoot when they're being shot at. They don't kill innocent civilians.

Listen, you're not going to change my mind. I think that killing people is wrong, and that's that. So lets just agree to disagree.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Killing people is wrong. But letting other people attack your friends and family is far worse.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

when people its typically because they have some issue with this person. soldiers who go to war should not be called murders. yes they have killed people, but only to defend the people they love who would die if they didn't. i agree with nevans7, is just plain rude, ungrateful, and ignorant.

Murder is defined as illegally killing somebody you moron!

Poxineuty the US military dosent kill civilians they kill only insurgents terrorists taliban members and anyone else that shoots at them its not wrong its defending the innocent people fucking liberal

by Anonymous 14 years ago

(USMarineOORAH!): Nice name. -cough- But who is to say that some one wouldn't make a mistake and an innocent person wouldn't die? There's always room for error, and war is just one big room.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

i'm just saying war is wrong. how would you feel if you were a soldier and you killed someone?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

no one is saying that war is right, however, if you check any law you will not go to jail if you can prove that you are protecting yourself. soldiers are protecting themselves AND their country.
