There's a difference between being a dad and being a father, amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Aren't they the same thing, just different word?
Do you mean there's a difference between being a 'dad' (as in sticking around for your kids, helping and supporting them and whatnot) and 'father' in the simplest sense of the word, biological, little more than a sperm donor?

"dad /dad/
Noun: One's father."
You're right.

No....they're the same exact thing.

Oh just like there's a difference between leather and cow's hide? And the difference between cats and felines? Different words, same meanings. Synonyms, they exist.

Just like the difference between being a mom/mum and being a mother.
