Change in lifestyles (they foods they ate, and the activities for young women were different back then) plus different make-up.

It's because they are unhappy XD Wouldn't you be unhappy if you couldn't vote, own your own home, support yourself, had to be controlled by a man, uphold a job... sorry... had to point that out. I can be kind of a feminist sometimes...

oh and did i mention, they had to also be "lady-like" and proper, SO it was proper to look like that back then.

What's wrong with being ladylike? I'd much rather see these whores on TV acting like ladies, instead of being trashy, disgusing, bitches. Society is awful now, and while women may have more freedom now, some really abuse it.

I didn't say it was wrong, I was just pointing it out. It was another reason why they would look different than women in today's age.

Whe one says "and did I mention," it usually means that it is an added thought, so you were stating it as a reason for them being unhappy, which I disagree with.

I think they look younger and their faces softer... almost more innocent than modern woman of the same age.

plus no one looks cheerful in old photos since you had to stay still for ages.

Maybe it's the lack of the 'pouty face'?
