Personally, I define them like this: Modest: Someone who covers themselves to tasteful levels and interacts with people normally. Prude: Someone who covers themselves to tasteful levels (or farther) and attempts to make everyone do exactly the same. It normally involves disapproving declamations referring to the person's imagined promiscuity.
