+267 A day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus, you don't care, but you still think it's pretty cool to know, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

how?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It orbits the sun before it spins on its axis.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that's really cool. I was overthinking it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wish this post was punctuated in a way that resembles the English language.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh yeah, sorry about that //one// comma that was arguably out of place. Brb, retaking the entire of my education in the hope that I can catch that next time so as to never again make a post that no one on the entire website can decipher.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I accept your apology. I wouldn't recommend going back to school, though. Just refamiliarize yourself with the conventional way to end a sentence so that your future posts will be clear and organized.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Amirite posts are all ended in question marks, which is pretty reasonable because they're all questions. On an unrelated note, I don't think you should correct anyone else's grammar ever again, because y'know, pot, kettle, know what I'm saying?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well if you want to be specific, all amirite posts end with the same question, "amirite?" which refers to the rest of the post. That post should generally be a complete statement, which should be able to stand alone as a sentence. This one does not. As for your unrelated note, I disagree. No one uses perfect grammar all the time, but correcting others for the sake of clarity is still important. If it wasn't, then we wouldn't have grammar at all. Furthermore, my replies to this post have been more or less grammatically correct, so I don't really see what you're criticizing about my language. I think the best thing for you to do would be to accept my non-hostile observation and consider the grammar of your posts before it is too late to edit them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

"A day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus, you don't care, but you still think it's pretty cool to know" you don't think that could be a sentence? No they haven't, and nor have some of your posts. "I wish this post was punctuated in a way that resembles the English language." is about as non-hostile as "You're fucking retarded." I'm going to have to stop arguing with you though, it's looking like it's going to be a waste of time because of how arrogant you apparently are.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's a good idea, Truuninja. I'll also stop arguing since you cannot accept constructive criticism. Although on the off-chance that you change your mind, I would recommend you do some research on what a sentence is. You may also want to look up the definition of "hostile," because if you had mastered the meaning of the word, you would know that my message and "You're fucking retarded" have totally different levels of hostility. The use of the word "fucking" in the latter implies a great deal of hostility, and the use of "retarded" as a synonym for "stupid" creates an ignorant tone and sets up an ad hominem argument. In contrast, I pointed out that your punctuation was incorrect. In fact, I didn't even ask you to change it, or imply that you didn't know the correct way to form a sentence; I simply implied that I would have enjoyed the post more if you had.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You also could've simply said "You've missed a comma," which wouldn't be as likely to provoke a fight.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think that's a really unnecessary comment to make, considering the post is clearly punctuated in a way which resembles the English language. I'm shocked that someone who'll argue no end about the English language cannot recognise this.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, just to clarify, here is the way the post could have been written to follow the rules of grammar. "A day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus. You don't care, but you still think it's pretty cool to know, amirite?" The difference is the period separating the two distinct sentences. This is not difficult.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They're not two distinct sentences, you can tell from the way I used a comma, not a full stop.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I was kind of kidding before when I suggested you look up what a sentence is, but it seems like you actually don't know. A sentence has exactly one primary subject and one primary predicate. In your post, you have two subjects, "a day" and "you" that either need to be in different sentences, or separated by a conjunction. Since you used a conjunction (correctly!) in the second sentence, it would be best to split it up like I did in my example. I'm sincerely not trying to ridicule you. I don't think you're stupid for not knowing this, but I wish you could accept the criticism so that you don't make the same mistake again.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You implied that the post wasn't written in a way which resembled the English language, when it clearly is. I didn't say it was difficult to use correct grammar, did I? I simply think your point is invalid, as I'm sure everyone who read the post recognised it as being punctuated in a way which resembles the English language, including yourself.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You're right. That was an exaggeration. My point is that it was incorrect punctuation, and it made it unnecessarily difficult to read the first time.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I bet you get all the bitches with you grammar.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh, I do. All of them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Almost all of your comments are in the negative. I suggest you stop.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Do you really suggest people stop making arguments when people start disagreeing with them? Also, most of the downvotes are from the OP and one other person. I would downvote him as well, but I don't consider him wrong, just misinformed and a little stubborn.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm assuming they were asking you to take on a more positive tone. Surely, you will know all about how tone can affect a sentence.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's a good theory, but wouldn't the same people have a problem with Truuninja's sarcasm and the use of "fucking retarded" as an insult? No, they just disagree with what I'm saying.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wow, you're like a child. You downvoted all my comments, that's why I downvoted yours. So, good effort taking all that moral high ground there.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well that's just false. I downvoted the posts that I heavily disagreed with (two of six), and you downvoted mine before you replied and gave me a chance to "act like a child" and downvote yours. If you actually think you're right in this situation, it's a little bit sad that my effort to get a pretty simple point across failed so miserably because you're just that stubborn. I don't care at all about the numbers next to my comments so feel free to downvote as you please.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wow, you actually just took your votes away so the people on here would think you were the grown up one. For the record, I downvoted your comments //after// I saw that you had downvoted **all** of mine, which is a thing I saw, it really happened and you know it as well as I do. It's quite unfortunate that you would be that much of a child.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah really unfortunate. Anything else?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I saw 20 comments on this and I thought that I'd see a lively discussion about astronomy, but all I saw was a ridiculously immature argument.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Which I think we can all agree is the next best thing.
