+1,325 Statistically, 9/11 Americans will be offended by this message, amirite?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

LMFAOOOOO

by Anonymous 14 years ago

This was posting in October. Not today.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

more like TheNameThat'sTooLong, amirite?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

A name is never too long! >:D

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Yes it is

by Anonymous 14 years ago

hahahaha I laughed and I'm American

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha, sick post :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Come on. Really? 9/11 isn't something to joke about. There are probably people who will read this that lost someone in 9/11. It's not funny.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If we can't laugh at ourselves then haven't the terrorists essentially won? If we're still grave faced and terrorized by their deed, then they have succeeded in what they intended to do: not to destroy property or even to kill Americans, but to enforce terror. I mean sure, there's a grace period, but it's been nearly ten years now. If we never moved on, then we'd be breaking under the weight of the Crusades, the Bubonic Plague, the eradication of Native Americans, European Imperialism, World War I, The Great Depression, World War II, Pearl Harbor, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, The Holocaust, MLK's assassination, Rwandan Genocide, and Stephanie Meyers. Humor lightens up a bad situation.

HAHAHHA THAT GUY I KNEW and loved DEARLY DIED HAHA fuck off

by Anonymous 13 years ago

-stands and applauds-

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sure, it's been 9 years since the attack. But this is really the only day out of the entire year that the country commemorates the lives that were lost. If we had remembrance ceremonies every single day for 9 years, yeah, obviously that would be going way overboard because, as you said, too many bad things have happened in the world to count, and we can't dwell on these things forever. But I think one day a year is acceptable, and we shouldn't be disrespecting people and saying that they need to move on from losing a loved one. They should be able to handle it however they want to, and if humor is the way they deal with it, I'm fine with that, but as far as I know most of the people making jokes here haven't lost anyone in 9/11 and most of the people here who have are saying they feel its distasteful. 9 days over 9 years is not an unreasonable time period, and people shouldn't be taking that away from those who need time to mourn.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dude, 9 years ago. 9.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PaHcZUHI00

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think that guy ^^^ is one of the 9 out of 11...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Come on now, be sensitive. He probably isn't kidding..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not kidding. I don't know why people think it's funny to joke about thousands of lives that were lost. It's disrespectful. What if somebody you loved had been in one of the towers that day? You wouldn't be joking about it right now.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OOPS you're a girl. Sorry about that. And yeah, it's a sensitive matter, but some people are silly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's a joke. It was funny. Lighten up a little bit and enjoy the humor.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know it's a joke. It's not funny. There is no humor to enjoy about 3,000 people dying.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Humor is how people deal with grief. It's good to laugh, to breathe, and to move on. Otherwise, as SalientK said, the terrorists won. I laughed and joked when my dad died, it's how I handled it, it's how thousands of people handle death. It's not a bad thing. Of course there is a time and place for crying and hurting, but you need to learn to laugh in order to move on.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

thank you

by Anonymous 13 years ago

humor is how SOME people deal with grief. other people deal with it other ways and they should get time to deal with it their way and not have people telling them to move on.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I guess you're one of the 9. The joke's not about the fact that 3,000 people died, it's just a clever play on words.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So we should let little children dieing of cancer just wallow in their sadness? instead of bringing in hospital clowns, or take them places to make them feel happy?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There was a humorous movie made about the holocaust that I watched in my Lit class, it was Italian. Unfortunately I can't remember the name. I have heard that many people love that movie. Millions of people died in WWII, not just 3000. I think if someone can find humor in that, we can also find humor in 9/11. Not all humor is disrespectful, sometimes the mood just needs to be lightened

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Could the movie possibly be LIfe is Beautiful?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

THAT'S IT!!!!! Thanks :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Look, I agree that you should NEVER laugh at what happened to those people, but this isn't laughing about those people. This is just a little pun. And if we agreed that you shouldn't laugh with grief, there wouldn't even be people laughing. People laugh to deal with grief, even if the grief is just having a hard day. Yes, 9/11 is much worse, but if we can't laugh about it, we can't laugh about anything, for something horrible has happened everywhere. This was just something that happened more recently, and that's the only reason that a bigger deal is made about it. People joke about wars, suicide, even homicide, and no one says a thing. Why should this be different?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't agree that people should make fun of things regarding war. This post isn't bad at all, IMO, however, don't expect people NOT to get offended.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Symph.): Well that's not what I said. At all. I said that people make jokes about war, and that's nowhere near the same thing as making fun of it. And I did expect people to be offended, I have just always wondered how people get so offended by things from 9/11 but don't even care about people making jokes about the civil war or other terrorist attacks. If we can't laugh at things that happened in the past, even horrible things, than we can't laugh at anything.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe on another day, this joke would have been more appreciated, it's just today is a bit of a sensitive day to post something like this :S

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Spiderweb Sitar): It was posted in October of '09

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yea but it just got post of the day today.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Which is the funny move, made by Anthony and the mods.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Personally, the only thing that you can possibly offend me with is disrespecting the dead... My dad was in 9/11 as a fireman and hes fine now... But 9/11 jokes are typically not funny. But this one, LOL.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, he's fine now.. but what if he hadn't been? Would you still think this was funny?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I would not have laughed, but I would have still thought this post was clever enough to be on the home page. Life is at it's best when you take things as a joke, because when things are serious and everybody's freaking out, nobody's having fun.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I bet the people commenting saying how bad this little joke is make jokes about other things like the holocaust etc. Some times you just need to lighten up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sometimes, you just need to get some respect.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I almost never get offended at jokes (even when they're pointed at me) but these type of jokes (holocaust jokes, kkk jokes, etc) kind of piss me off. Don't mock people's deaths.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree. I can take a joke. But jokes about inicidents like this one are totally uncalled for. It's not funny when people die. Losing someone close to you is a heartwrenching, painful thing. Especially when you know they went like this.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree with you about offensive jokes, for the most part. However, I think you can still be respectful, yet at the same time try to make someone smile about the subject after 9 years... I'm not saying it's a laughable subject, but I did find the post witty and amusing, and you have to admire that. I hope you didn't loose anyone in 9/11, and if you did, i'm sorry.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'll say this again. My dad died, I got through it with laughter. If you dwell and cry all the time you can never move on from a loss; you NEED to learn to laugh, if only a little bit.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree with your belief that you need to laugh. I couldn't get through anything without laughter. However, I don't believe you have to laugh at the incident itself. You have to laugh in the darkness, but you don't have to laugh at the darkness.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Which is better, laugh at the incident or laugh at the people who died? It's easier to laugh about the incident, it distances you from the death part.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You have to remember that not EVERYONE deals like you do.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Symph.): It's true. But many people do, and you should let people deal with grief in whatever way they can.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How is this mocking death?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I just think that putting it up there today is kind of disrespectful to put it up there today. Today we're supposed to remember and mourn the deaths the people who died.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

because if someone mentions anything about 9/11 someone is going to get offended. some people are just retarded and can't laugh at anything

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Man. You're not Athena. If you were, those words of wisdom would make a lot more sense...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The OP didn't mock any deaths at all...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

She wasn't mocking deaths..... learn to read.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The OP isn't but putting it up there today is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

holocaust jokes? what are you talking about? the holocaust never happened.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is one of those rare jokes that is funny and probably completely accurate

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So then what you're saying is, it's funny because it's true? :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This isn't mocking their deaths. Its just a play on the date that it happened.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I probably would have smiled just a bit if it wasn't posted on this day (or anywhere near it) I lost my dad during 9/11. ):

by Anonymous 13 years ago

D: that's horrible! And I didn't lose anyone I know In 9/11 but I agree with you saying it would have been a funny post of the day on a different day but not on the actual day

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry to hear that.. :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So sorry to hear bout your dad. :( <3

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's a joke people do need to lighten up but some jokes about things like this, they usually aren't funny. Its not funny to see people falling hundreds of feet to the ground. There's this video on youtube that my teacher should us and everyone cried -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFKT9uB3b8s

by Anonymous 13 years ago

sick. gross. jokes about people dying aren't ever funny. not funny, just sick. if this joke had been about Britain, it would be called offensive...sick.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh. I didnt realize what day it was. It is a bit innapropriate to POTD today...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah... really inappropriate to be POTD. O i see what you did thar.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i still like ur name

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Has anyone considered that maybe this might be a legitamate statistic? Maybe it's not a joke at all.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Exactly!): 86% of statistics are made up on the spot.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can't stand when people take jokes too fucking serious. I'm black and I hear all these nigger jokes, and I laugh. it's life get over over it, bitching isn't going to make em' stop and frankly, we don't care if you don't think it's funny. It's on the homepage so alot of others do.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Exactly!): It would've been just as accurate to say 8/10 rather than 9/11. Therefore, if the OP wasn't making a pun, (s)he would have used the less offending statistic.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe, maybe not. They may have got it off of a website.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

8/10 does not equal 9/11...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why would anyone get offended by 8/10?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I understand that people are sensitive about 9/11 but this post isn't offensive in any way, it's just a play on the date...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Now, now. We should all learn to tip-toe around the sensitive people on the internet.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People need to lighten up. Yeah people died that day, but death is just a part of life... It's not like the people that died that day weren't ever going to die (Yeah, i know i sound like a dick right now, and i'm sorry, but seriously) I'm an american, and i find this post funny, Making light of a serious situation helps gets through it. If your just going to morn for another 9 years, your never going to let it go and get on with your life, and be miserable forever...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In this thread . . . a bunch of prudes ruining a clever post. :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ITT: A bunch of people jealous that they aren't witty enough to come up with someone like this themselves.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd actually argue that. I think Brits can take a joke better than Americans can.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It took balls for Anthony to really cross the line and make this post of the day on the actual date. Bravo, Anthony. I show my respect to you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ironically it's actually still September 10 in the USA at the time of this posting. I don't know what time it was in England when it became POTD, but it's still pretty ballsy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The post will still be up the next day.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know this. I was just pointing out that he didn't make it POTD on the actual date.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I see@557562 (SalientK): I see

by Anonymous 13 years ago

1) I'm American 2) yes, it's a terrible sick joke 3) I did , however, laugh.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I kinda do think this post might have crossed the line a bit. I totally agree with @SalientK that we need to laugh at things and let them go, and I am all for making fun of things in a joking matter, but I think that we need to respect the families who are still sensitive and extremely devastated from the loss of a loved one during 9/11. I had to watch a film of 9/11 today, and it was so sad, that I almost cried (and I am FAR from the crying type.) Losing someone, especially to something as devastating as this is a hard thing to get over. It may be easier for some, but it's still tough. I know if my mom who is probably the most important person to me died in 9/11 I would be pretty offend by this. I'm pretty sure OP didn't mean to offend anyone though. I just think we just need to be more sensitive to others. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And no, the fact that 9/11 jokes bother me does not make me soft or sensitive. Nor does it mean I lack a sense of humor. I've had a lot of pain in my life; I'm tough. There's not a lot that bothers me. However, disrespectful jokes do bother me. It was a tragedy, nothing funny. This joke is not as bad as some, but I still think it was uncalled for. You may not think it's disrespect. I do.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What the fuck? How the hell is this disrespectful? I'm American too but I didn't find this offensive in the least. He didn't say anything even slightly offensive. 9/11. <--- Was that offensive too? I'm not trying to be mean but it's been 10 years. I'm pretty sure that the terrorists behind 9/11 WANTED to see people be crushed and in despair of this day. Sitting here 10 years later refusing to have a sense of humor is pretty much saying that they succeeded.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This post isn't really offensive at all. It's not joking about all of the people dying, not like they're being a dick about it, just posted something clever that people are taking in a bad way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Agreed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

While it's true it's funny, THIS DAY makes it unfunny.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I disagree. Just because it is the anniversary, it doesn't mean that what happened on 9/11 is less important or distressing on any other day of the year. If this had been posted in the middle of May (for example), i doubt nearly as many people would be so upset by it. Which I find a bit ridiculous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Let's all rage. That'll fix our problems.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I loveee thiss!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why thank you :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lmaoo, I'm still laughinggg!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Look at all the rage, you've caused by this post thats why we shouldn't POST THIS SHIT

by Anonymous 13 years ago

CAPS IS FUN HUH

by Anonymous 13 years ago

:D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lol :3

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thanks, dick. My mother would have died had she taken a job there just days before. I lost two cousins in the 9/11 attackers. Many people had family members who DIED, you sensitive prick. I HOPE YOU BURN IN HELL.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That is a really horrible thing to say. It's not as if the person posting wrote, "Thank goodness people died on 9/11 because I hate fucking Americans. Go the Taliban." But I am sorry that you lost family.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i find it hard to feel sorry for him losing his family when he is wishing death upon other people

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, it's been years, but it's not like we're doing this everyday. As a lot of people have said, if this was POTD another day, it would have been fine. But this is a day that we mourn. Just like 4th of July is the day Americans celebrate their independence. You don't everyone jumping all up and down about their independence and whatnot on any day BUT 4th of July. c'mon guys, this was big. We can't even have one day to say "This day really sucked back then..." and mourn over family and whatnot that were lost?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Don't come here if you can't take a joke. Honestly, it's like going to 4chan and screaming THAT'S SO OFFENSIVE (even if that case would be on a larger scale).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay it's funny. But considering this will be POTD ON 9/11, well I wonder if the mods did that intentionally...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mods don't choose POTD.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Any day but today... Anthony's gonna get a lot of shit for this..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Come on people. the post isnt that offensive. but, the fact that its POTD today, is. today is the one day of the year that we set aside to remember and respect the people that were killed on that day. yeah, it was 9 years ago. that doesnt change the fact, that those people should be remembered. we dont dwell on it, but we do remember it. theres a difference.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i think im the only one here who doesnt get it.... (: i have manyyyy blonde moments...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

9/11 was when the Twin Towers fell down, and it says 9/11 poeple willl get offended.... and he was almost right....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@558720 (imnotusuallyright): omg.... im not that stupid. i am American. i know what 9/11 is. wow. i just dont get why he says people will be offended.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

9/11 is shorthand for September 11th, 2001, the day of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City by Muslim extremists. It is an issue that many people, especially Americans, are still sensitive towards, and this post uses a play on words to emphasize that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What terrorist?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The one and only, of course. :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah that's funny because 3 of the man on the plane are still alive! the phone calls are fake phones don't work at that hight if they did they had .007% chance but there were tens of calls. if you can believe that, they I have nothing so say but, believe what ever you want.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. I thought you were just mocking a grammatical mistake I made, but now you're on about fake phone calls and beliefs and statistics and I feel like I just got lost along the way somewhere, lol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry, I assume you know nothing about the event of 9/11?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know that on September 11, 2001, two planes went into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Another plane hit the Pentagon. Another plane, believed to be headed for the White House, crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. I'm not sure what else you mean.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh so you just know of what the news reported and you don't know that at the time when building 1 and 2 were demolished with a pretense of airplanes building 9 was also demolished? and the part of the pentagon that was blown up contained all information about building 9 and 1 and 2. and the parts of airplane reported to have crashed into the pentagon did not belong to the claimed plane?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I stated the bare facts, not what the news reported. If you don't believe that some planes flew into some buildings, get your eyes checked. :B

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I never denied that planes didn't crash is the building. but they did not, could not have brought them down. NEVER in history it was happened!!! even after the building has burned for 24 hours!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not ruling out the fact that there might have been ulterior motives or explanations. I'm just explaining what happened on 9/11. Whether or not the planes caused the buildings to come down is for you to decide. Whether or not Osama Bin Laden was behind the attacks is for you to decide. The only thing we can know for sure is that some planes crashed into some buildings and, later, those same buildings collapsed. Everything else is debatable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

" buildings collapsed." is also debatable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The Twin Towers no longer exist. They crumbled to the ground and created ruin in the streets of New York City. They did not disappear or teleport, they collapsed. There is video of this happening. What are you talking about?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They were brought down with explosives(termite to be exact) ie. demolished.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In any case they collapsed, no matter what you believe. If you believe that they were demolished, then the demolition eventually lead to their collapse. Same thing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not the "Same thing" they have been collapsed if you wanna use that word not as you said previously that "buildings collapsed"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the Internet makes me ashamed to be American. why all the hate? I think it's a bit distasteful, that this will be post of the day on 9/11. But it's also a clever pun that is not, in any way "disrespecting the dead".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aw fuck, I just now understood it. I'm slow on getting jokes I guess.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Today 9 years ago, my mum got premoted to go work in New York in the twin towers, I was in England and got made to go to boarding school, now I've got NOTHING!!!! I'm not even American!! I'm still stuck in England because of fucking Asama Bin laden or however you spell it!!! I hope he gets caught!! I hope someone tortures him like how I have in this 'social hell hole' or orphanage!! But one good thing did come out of this, I won't take my life for granted! I'm gonna pass my GCSES and make my mummy proud!! I'm gonna do well in life! I miss my mum more and more every day! And I remember that exact day when I was told she was dead:( even the brittish are affected :/ R.I.P MUM :( <3 I love you :( x

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I find it odd that the people who were offended disagreed with this post.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hahaha good point! They do seem to be in the minority, though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@559040 (Chromana): That is technically correct, but those two numbers have only a mere 2% difference; convert them to decimals to see how close they are to eachother. @558250 (AFizzle94): What I was saying up there is that if the OP was presenting a valid statistic, he would not have used an offending number; instead he would've used a nonoffensive but just as accurate number, say 8/10.

by Anonymous 13 years ago
