+412 It's irritating when people don't want to watch a movie because the premise sounds stupid. You can make any great movie sound ridiculous by over simplifying its premise. "Oh, The King's Speech is about some guy with a stutter who has to give a speech. Black Swan is about some girl who wants to be the leading role in a ballet." Just give it a chance, amirite?

I'm not saying this is always true, but I've found that a lot of movies with basic/simple plots are actually good because it really gives the actors a chance to carry the bulk of the movie instead of relying on special effects and gunfire to make it a success.

The Social Network is about rich white college boys who make websites. Frost/Nixon is about an interview that took place after Watergate. Breakfast Club is about a bunch of highschoolers who are in detention.
